  1. I agree Tomo.T. Just trying to authenticate what appears to be the most reasonable answer. FYI, I've asked online questions just as arcane on other forums and been totally surprised by the answers! The best example is on the Great War Forum, I was able to get in touch with a Sikh British Army chaplain to ask a question about the prayer practices of Sikh soldiers serving on the Western Front. I got a wonderfully complete and helpful answer. Somewhere out there in the internet ether, somebody knows the answer. All the best, Dan
  2. I'm a new HMVF member seeking vehicle, contract or supply specifications or any written British Army specs indicating the color of Ford Model T's to be supplied to British, Australian, or New Zealand forces in Egypt or Palestine during the First World War. From the book, Light Car Patrols, 1916-1919, Silphium Press, 2014, it's apparent that the first Model T's used by the Light Car Patrols were supplied for other purposes. I can't say for certain but think it's unlikely that the Light Car Patrol staff ever developed any kind of color requirements or specifications. All their modifications to the vehicles were made in mobile Army work shops apparently. If no Army or AIF specs were developed requesting a different color, then the Ford 'factory' color tan or brown shown in the attached photo of an ambulance probably was supplied. I've received a reply from the Australian team that recently completed the Model T Light Car Patrol vehicle to the effect that the Leyland Sand Glow paint they selected was the owner's choice. Any information would be appreciated! All the best, Dan Morton
  3. Just joined the forum. Enjoyed reading all the posts documenting your restoration / conversion and a great outcome! Questions for anybody on the team - How did you arrive at that color [Leyland Sand Glow?] for the vehicle? Did you have any specs or contract docs that specified that Model T's being sent to Egypt during WW1 would be painted that color? Do you know of any such documents? Do you know of any evidence indicating the historically correct color or colors of Model T's used by the Light Car Patrols from 1916 to 1919? All the best, Dan
