  1. The plan for laying out a marquee.
  2. Very noble that sellers of such vehicles are taking on this responsibility. Two things spring to mind. It would be easy to tell a lie & if I was going to use it for bad things, I probably wouldn't say so, to get round the 'vetting'. Is the seller aware of this loophole? Does this type of scrutiny now go on in the motor trade for would-be purchasers of a Jeep Cherokee?
  3. Well they all seemed to be enjoying themselves.
  4. Yes well done Neil it is indeed a trough for horses, but not just for cavalry. There are taps at the right end & the bar above the trough is for wrapping reins. Hmm these must be getting far too easy. Although there are still 2 MOs not answered yet.
  5. Ah no Tony you are on the wrong trail. When I re-read "Water supply line with straw as insulation?" I didn't quite know what you had spotted. There is a water supply element in that there is a pipe coming in protected from the frost I assume, but the whole thing could be regarded in the loosest sense a supply. See answer I'm about to post. BTW master? Nope, I just have hoarded lots of books over the years. ;-)
  6. I was just carrying out an audit of my answers, just maybe I need to reappraise your response Tony. Can you expand on your answer a bit?
  7. I haven't signed into ebay for a couple of months. The only time I have done so recently was to ask this seller a question to get a not very helpful answer. Within a day I find someone has been using my ID to contact other ebay users. My password has been cancelled by ebay & I have had to choose a new ID & password. That seems strange, I'm not for one moment suggesting it has anything to do with this seller, but none the less it's a bit strange.
  8. Well only two of you seemed to be brave enough to have a go. There is no such thing a Dog GS & Dog RE but I have modified it to dog. So on a recount, Tony you have scored 9 points & come in second & Dougiebarder you have won the competition with 12 points. Well done. I have documentary evidence that the animals marked * are/were considered suitable for service with the British Army in a pack or draught role. *Ass *Bullock *Camel (single humped) *Camel (double humped) Cat (felix domesticus) *Dog *Donkey *Elephant Emu Homunculus *Jennet Kangaroo, GS *Mule, GS *Mule, Pack (Sudan) *Mule, RA *Pony Rhino *Sheep *Water buffalo *Yak Zebra The sheep suprised me, yet it is rated at a 40 lb payload. The only photo of military use of sheep was found below, in search, enter "sheep sailor" http://cas.awm.gov.au/TST2/cst.acct_master?surl=2074262539ZZWTDGQHBRUO64277&stype=2&simplesearch=&v_umo=&v_product_id=&screen_name=&screen_parms=&screen_type=RIGHT&bvers=4&bplatform=Microsoft%20Internet%20Explorer&bos=Win32
  9. Yes that's cos you have to go to work! :-( Not like many of us layabouts sat in front of the keyboard all day. The explosion in objects I'm afraid is that I am sifting through books preparing an article & some things just catch my eye. I have no workshop facilities, well none with electricity & I am sitting doing this in a garden shed whilst the builder makes a mess of the house into week 22 of no mains water, WC, heating, electricity etc etc. Not too bad in the heat of summer, but novelty wearing off now! As for keeping books under the bed as Tony suggests, the book collection is spread around in tea chests, cupboards, stables etc. It took me 30 minutes yesterday to find just a dictionary to look up the definition of casket.
  10. Lauuncher? Where do you get these ideas? Nope
  11. Nope, but the date is 1939 I think but this could have been in service 1909 though. Did you like the aged effect of the document? ;-)
  12. Yes dam it you're right. There was a catch, the men in shorts are British Army MPs, but the long trousered are Palestine Police. Mainly Brits I suspect but in theory could also comprise Palestinian Jews & Arabs.
  13. Oh dear, I should have just said Richard you are right & left it at that. That's what comes of my trying to be cosmoploitan & straying from PW stuff :-( For being very clever I am about to post one for you which is a drawing & I expect an early answer ;-) Ah yes we haven't finished who is using this Otter then?
  14. Yes well done Richard, C15TA Final question with whom is it service?
  15. Yes well done persistence has paid off. The full picture is a giveaway as it shows the Tel Aviv Hotel. (Although that doesn't always follow eg there is a Bristol Hotel is in Cornwall) Right, now for the vehicle, this should give it away.
  16. Not those locations but the year is spot on!
  17. Nope, nope (and it's not British, oh what a giveaway)
  18. Not an Albion/QL/OY. Tony you're not making a fool of yourself, if I didn't know what is I wouldn't have the foggiest idea. Not Alex or Tunisia, not K2.
