Impeccable logic Andy, but keeping water out is just a requirement for an occasional eventuality. So not permanent situation as say a stone built duck house

No coal Alec we've established that these are all stones. If I'm not giving too much away, the instructions indicate that this "is eminently adapted for stony or rocky country". I presume that in non-stony areas it might be difficult to construct as there would be a shortage of building materials!
