  1. I recently purchased a job lot of radio equipment including a standard Clansman TUAAM wing box. However it contains a MFJ-910 Mobile Antenna Matcher mounted into a RS Components diecast box as per pictures rather than the expected standard TUAAM

I assume this was a civilian modification rather than military? Any thoughts?

  2. I have just purchased a BSA 300w Charging set for rebuild with no spark and a low compression.

I have downloaded a copy of the Manual from http://www.howardengineerium.co.uk/Images/BSA Charging Set Manual.pdf however Page 31 is missing. This covers checking and adjusting valve clearances which I suspect I will need! Has anybody got a copy of page 31 that they could send me or upload?

In addition is there a UK source for head gaskets?

    Thanks

    Richard

  3. Whilst not a direct replacement I have produced a new harness for my Champ using Yellow 28/0.3 17.5Amp PVC cable. 4.8mm heat shrink with the cable identifiers written on with a fine permanent marker before you shrink it on completes the job. Champs appear to have both blue and yellow Unipren harnesses.

  4. Still with Sextons and 3RHA who were part of 25 Armd Brigade and then, 10 Armd Division and then ..... went off somewhere else which wasn't sandy .... oh, that'll be Bulford where I believe they switched to either towed 25pdrs or 5.5" guns .... DBG.

From Max Warwick REME who was attached to 3RHA in Homs and Egypt (pre-Suez) as their armourer Sgt, we have this photo of the parade square in Homs camp. I'll help you with the line-up; I can see Cromwell AOPs and Command Posts (don't know the marques though other photos may help with identification), Sexton SPGs and GPOs and, a very strange-looking last vehicle. Hmmm, I know what it is, but do you?

    No copying rules apply.

I believe the last vehicle in the line is a Carrier, AOP No.4(FV402), the AOP version of the Cambridge carrier. Thanks for the posts my farther in law is very interested as he was with J battery 3RHA in Germany then Eygpt and then Libya.

  5. Hi,

If you are referring to the photo of a Saracen with the Champ in front, then it appears to be a Mk2 as the commander

is sitting out of the turret on the flap, otherwise if it was a Mk1 you would see the LH folded back.

    cheers Richard

    Thanks,it would help if I had put the VRM's 30BA67 or 31BA14

  6. I have always had an interest in military history and vehicles although the 2 sides took a while to link up. Triumph TR6 and TR7 (since sold) restorations eventually lead to my Austin Champ 07BE16 which has been on the road since 2012. My current slow moving project is a Mark 1 Sankey trailer 58BL33, but I am always looking for potential new projects...
