  1. no deffo fuel cans i am used to the water ones coming in the scrap i will post a pic if i can find a camera lead as i bought two of the sand plastic sceptre cans from ian mumbersons yard a few years back his yard is sadly gone since his passing

  2. hi me again the other day in our scrap yard one of our drivers had tipped a load of mod scrap amongst all the scrap items were as normal several damaged jerry cans what made these of interest to me was the fact that three of them were green plastic jerry cans made by the scepter company now i know these are used by the us forces but i thought that ours still used the same steel jerry cans that we have since the war

i dont think these had come from any ops that our boys are on as iknow the us forces employ yellow injection molded cans for desert ops and green molded ones for everything else

i just wondered if we were trying them out any one out there know for sure

  3. well it seems to look just about standard the pic is not the best and i am wodering what would be the paint scheme have been the one in the pic is us airforce but wondering from 1979 to 83 were they just using olive drab or were they in to camo by then i have seen pics camo cuckvees and and just olive

there are only four of these in the country and i own three they only made 27000 in the entire prodution run

so if i tryed to build a replica would this be blasphamy and deeply wrong

or due to the almost imposability of real ex airforce or army one turning up in the uk would it be deemed a fair thing to do

  4. tusday half oneish i was driving my scania hook lift with a load of mod scrap i was just at junction 10 walsall when i got a two second glimpse of a low loader going north on the other side and it had on board a m8 greyhound rusty but all there septin the 37mm gun tyres were up and it looked as if may have drove on i must be wrong but loaded in front of that was the a four wheeled cariage for an artilery peace but it looked like it was for a german 88 no gun or shield on it other than that it looked all there there was some other bits on the trailer but i simply couldnt tell what

anybody got new toys to play with

  5. phew... i dont know if its still there but ther used to be one parked up at the side of the road just past the red kite cafe on the way to abberistwith it yellow ex council snow plough by the looks it was rough but all there

  6. only just seen this thread for the future it might be worth getting the shoes re prophiled at almost any truck brake retailer they will then all be the same and will rid you of needing shims and cure your imbalance for good

strange how the minestry no longer alow the tapley meter

  8. there was a simaler hospital in herefordshire at mansel lasey an estate not far from leaominster all that remaned in the 90s was the concrete pads and gravel standings around where the wooden buildings had stood

some of the old all wheel drive club members may remember the club holding ther national event there

  9. i wonder if anyone knows any thing about american bases in shropshire around bridgnorth shrewsbury and telford the reason i asking is my now departed mum was a teenager during the war and in her words had a high old time with personel who atended the dance halls particullarly around bridgnorth but as far as shrewsbury they would pick the girls up in jimmys and take them to the dances she said despite how deaperate the times were her fondest memories were of wartime and the yanks who were so kind i know shropshire was a hive of activaty during the war but there is litle left to bear witness to those days

there are still hangers at crudington and the remains of a large ammo dump at ditton priors and there was a large camp in sturt forest

any info would be very welcome

but the rest if any seems forgoten
