  1. the thread does read like a nightmare it has to be said i can see a lot of points getting raised that are very valid indeed

i have only been twice last year and around 8 years ago and though it was a world beating spectacle

i cant realy add to a lot of what has been said having never camped

but you would have to work extremly hard to build up a worthy rival to the war and peace

somthing middle of the country would be nice but where and who can pull it off

  2. this is only the input of a nobody but

some trucks almost look to mint marked up in unit markings circa whenever

and you cant help but think it should look almost beat to heck and back

    and brush painted

somthing that i am not sure how to veiw is trucks that are renewed i know there is limits to what can be salveged but some seem replicas

the one that springs to mind is the t28 halftrack jeep it is a fantastic thing to see but its almost new as there was next nothing left of it

pink panther landys there must be more of them about than got made to start with

but i think a chap with the africa corps on sunday said somthing that rings true

i asked weather folk noticed or complained about there gaz 69 i think field car marked up as africa corps

he said we dont care it looks the part and anyway we all want to play with our toys and the truth is there arnt enough toys to go around hence the barmy prices he said the worst rivet counters were the older long standing colectors that have owned bought there toys years ago when they were cheap used vehicles

as i say i find it very interesting how owners display ther vehicles

  3. may i ask does anyone know if there is an active club or group in my area

birmingham ish i live by junction two of the m5

and realy would like to get envolved more and meet a few folk i dont own a pukka military vehicle but i do know what end of a spanner to hold and i can drink lots of tea and chew the fat with anybody

  4. no not the titanic the white star used on american vehicles what year or era did US forces stop using the star i have seen it on vietnam and korea era vehicles but when was it last used :???

  5. utter crap re the paper report the good lady and our two youngest carpet munchers 3 and 5 as well as myself were just about as close to the dingo where the unfortunate incedrent hapened as the public were alowed we saw what hapened and i would simply like to say i wish the chap a speedy recovery and would like to thank all envolved for a very good and friendly event

i was a bit shy so sorry for not saying hi as i just dont know you all

  6. i got done this time last year 4.30am 44 in a 60 zone.....i was in a hgv just by the belffrey golf cource i too had never been done before i know i was over the hgv limit but still felt a bit cheated it was a sat morning and i was the only thing on the road:(

  7. thanks for the positive in put chaps i do understand that the amount of reply will be based on the number of folks who have owned or had mates who own the vehicle in question

there is such a wealth of colective knowledge on here it comes almost as a surprise when there is no replys

for myself i am trying to find a vehicle that is a bit out of the mainstream

and aforadable [wife four kids and not such a good job]

without wanting to sound anti it seems i could throw a rock in any direction from my house and hit a landy owner hence my rare jeeps

i did ask about my one jeep and as to weather it could be cloned into a

replica of a rare 80s military jeep i dint get any replys on that so i asumed possibly wrongly that it was a silent stiupid boy pike

    sorry folks for any ofence

  8. thanks for the input folks so you are sure the non disc brake version is the best

i sorta thought discs was better but i can go with the easy to maintain concept

jt leavesly seem to be selling them on eblag for £250 but it now and they are only twenty miles from my place

so i am thinkin thats the way to go:yay:

  9. so no one is interested or i smell bad :cool2: or is there no interest in the 1980s

i am sure i am wrong but it almost seems that it is too recent history to be worth while unless its british landys or tracked british armour

and i think if thats the case its a bit sad

feel free to flame me but i am struggling to understand how things work

after all there is only so much ww2 or other major conflict stuff to go around

i am sorry if this post is ofensive in any way

  10. hi folks i was wondering if there is much interest in the 1980s cucvees

i am asking as i have had a normal chevy blazer with a v8 diesel in the past and i liked it very much and now i have heard of one thats a military one not sure if its a pick up or blazer

it needs the rear axle rebuilding so may not be too dear

all info and opinions very welcome
