  1. Love the thread, please keep posting.

Turntable trailers are so sensible looking, do they tow well in addition?

    Robin

Must admit they do have a certain attraction, this one bounces abit as 1 tyre has flat spot,1 tyre holds air,1 is a spare (swapped it to go on my EEC as taking it to local show..)&the other tyre has big split in it..hard rubber,:D

  2. Been doing some work on the bowser this weekend, removed the wood floor n all the farm welded additions, power washed off n sprayed with oil, chassis wants some of the corroded bits sorting 2of the tyres split.found some numbers above makers plate 26745..could this be the year of manufacture?? also the part remains of some white lettering on chassis just before makers plate starts with a G"orC" &ends with an E"?? still looking for a swivel towing eye for it.Noticed the chassis bends in narrower at turntable end(see pics)unlike my EEC which is straight, any feedback welcome...009.jpg

  3. As you seem to be into WW2 trailers ? have you seen this one on ebay ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/living-van-trailer-ww2-/181720336298

Thanks for the message re the trailer on ebay, looks interesting!! Think ive got plenty on at mo with the 2 ive got our lot at the farm already thing im just collecting scrap:nut: we,d all look atbit rough if we had been left outside for years covered in briars:-D i like a challenge wot with trying to get hold of obsolete tyres n half the parts missing..brilliant.

  4. I'm quite lucky in the aircraft collection I volunteer in we have a few tractors and agricultural implements so I can get my farm fix. I restored a 1919 Austin for them about 10 years ago and have helped out on the other restorations on the living van, traction engine and currently chaff cutter. A local farmer friend has a good farm collection and is regularly up your way looking in hedges for what's left behind, good luck with the toys

i have a container with afew items in waiting to be restored one day but keep getting distracted with other things (trailers),got a Lister L stationary engine that was seized up for years in one of the old buildings at ours it had the piston stuck in its top stroke when turned off last,my uncle shud have turned it now & again n poured some oil down it if he wasnt going to use it again..would have saved me the 2yr job of unseizing it,shud have it ready for fireing up soon..making trolley at mo.:nut:

  7. Welcome in, good luck with your projects and then you'll need something to tow them and then you'll need to have a set piece to display them in, and then.....:nut:

It's how the bug bites :D

    Where abouts are you based?

    Steve

yes steve ive been diverted away from farm machines to my other interest (ww2 raf related things)i do alot of contract hedge trimming on various farms so knew of the trailers in question which were heading for the gas torch so thought id better act &save them as one at a farm where i was a student in 87 was recently burnt n scrapped therefore making me act on these.Im based near northallerton north yorks.:-)

  8. hello,im a farmer by trade but have an interest in ww2 RAF related things, ive recently aquired 2 RAF trailers with the intention of restoring them to what they once were once i have confirmed their exact use & what they should look like. Therefore ive joined this forum with the hope that some of you in the know may be able to help,i will post some pics up of the trailers so any comments would be appreciated.Thankyou.
