Ok not been in here for a while so an update is due.
Wiring is all finished although I have still to get the generator working. Will take it and gen panel to local specialist soon.
Ex Rubery Owen stores trailer body now sits atop.
It got there by use of the mili's winch and a shove from the tractor. Pic shows it about 3/4 of the way on.

Believe it or not, the ceramic "screw-it" type connectors you speak of are still a recognised connector, but have been updated to current regs. The must be enclosed in a box with suitable strain relief. This site is American, but they are available in most electrical wholesalers

Not posted here for a while, so here's an update.
The fuel tank, rh chassis rail and rear wheels have been needle gunned and given a coat of red oxide. (Note the old paint flakes on the ground around the old girl! Not sure what paint it is, but it comes off in sheets, and leaves the original red lead behind).
The rh front wing has been repaired, and straightened out. It has had a new piece let in at some point in its life, and must have had a couple of pots of P38 in it!
Have also taken some more of the side panels off, and found even more rot in both the bed and the steelwork. Still not 100% decided on what to do with the bed yet. Any suggestions?

Just looked through operators manual and see I need gallons of the slippery stuff for a full service. Problem is nowhere does it give any clue as to grades. I'm thinking ep80/90 for the axles and gearboxes, but what do you guys think suitable for the engine?

Where did you find the nos tyres?

John Atlee has kindly found the SEME precis and scanned it as a pdf. He asked me to post it here, but its 18Mb, so too large to be used as an attachment. (Many thanks John, you are a true gent!)
I have put it on my website at the bottom of the aec militant page here:
http://www.hartsteam.co.uk/aec-militant
Enjoy!

Nice little run out yesterday. Son tom had a go. I think we did about 20 yards a go before he rolled to a halt without getting the gears! Soon grasped it though. Old girl ran well. Just got to get the electrics working now.

Ok so a last update.
I've now sold this old girl to James Eastwood from Gloustershire. He came and collected her and drive her home approx 200 miles and reported back that she never missed a beat.
Sorry to see her go, but ran out of space and have too many projects on the go.
