  1. Started with a poor example, bought on ebay. As mentioned, the aim was to have a capable off road trailer. Got it home, took some more photos, and it looked even worse. You could see through the floor, the tub mounts were rusted off. As original, the tub is watertight. It came from a tropical location, and as expected, the tub filled up with water - and rusted. Some kind soul (but misled)tipped the water out and turned it upside down. Now the water pooled under the lip of the trailer. Anyway, that weekend it was brought home and sandblasted. That's the worst it's looked at that point.. The finished product, as it stands today.
  2. Hi everyone! Laurence here from the Northern Territory, Australia. I've been browsing across the net and stumbled on HMVF. Some great restoration pics, and I was inspired enough to join. I don't have any current restoration projects on the go, but have previously restored a No.5 army trailer with a lot of assistance from a friend and his shed. If you had asked me at the start, I would have baulked at the amount of rust and scale of repair required. Not a faithful reproduction either. The original purpose was for a trailer to carry all the camping equipment. Pics to follow later. I can definitely see myself restoring more in the future. Looking forward to meeting you all!
  3. This looks Australian. It is a 6x6 landrover with a flat tray on the back. On it is placed an STA - Satellite Terminal Assembly. Pretty much a mobile ground station. The legs you see are mounted to give the dish stability, so the 6x springs don't sag and put the dish out of alignment. Once raised on the legs, the land rover can be driven out and used elsewhere. In the front of the STA are mounted two generators, which can be used to power it. The 6x6 land rover has coil springs up the front, and overlapping leaf springs for the back. The whole thing seems to be set up on an airfield at perhaps some sort of field day?
