Just got back from a most fantastic weekend here. It was great. I really enjoyed it and I met a few HMVF members.
great selection of vehicles, and a thank you to Marmite! For the flag, and a big thank you to ArtistsRifles for a ride round the arena in his OT90 ... Following us round was the Cromwell and to see it charging around behind us was AWESOME !!
everything was well organised , the security people were friendly and efficient. Favourite of mine were the Cromwell and a huge American breakdown truck with a superb patina.
flying display was fantastic too, and every plane did a lengthy display, which was much better than some other shows I have been to.
Cant wait till next year !

Glad to have you on board

Yes welcome and good luck with your project

So lesson learned so far is never sell your beloved vehicle to fund your love life. Stick with your wheels !!!!!

Thanks for clearing up my mystery of the plate

i had a girlfriend who put me at a choice.
sell your land-rovers and get a lexus, or we split up.
i can still remember her look on her face, when i put my duffle bag in the 1962 109 and went to belgium.
the car i regret scrapping was my alfa romeo 33sw type 2.
engine failure, loads of work and i had enough of it. regretted it after leaving it at the scrappy.
my wife to be regretted selling her 109 raf landy. after a few years she bought it back, and i work on it ever since :-)
cheers, Arjan
Ah duffle bags... ..they were the days.... Many a good fellow has gone off over the horizon with nothing but a duffle bag.
they use bin liners nowadays you know, it doesn't have the same air of adventure does it.?

I was watching a war film last week and I did not know that the germans had white halftracks and dressed up 109 series two landrovers the yanks had m37 dodges and reos and a ferret or two in world war two!! when are the film makers ever going to get it right at least with kellys heros the vehicles were of the right time period. There are enough preserved ww2 military vehicles aircrarft and boats in the world for there to be no excuse
I think the film was "Tobruk" - it was awful, I watched it... And what is worse my grandad wasn't in it - and he was there !

Maybe if you buy it, you'll need insurance, so get one with national breakdown cover ( I am with Adrian Flux ), then if it all goes udders up at least you'll get it brought home without having to hire a haulier !

Yes sometimes, but that's part and parcel of old MVs I guess

Decide once you have driven it... The old girl will talk to you and tell you if she can make it.
-
Yes still a bit "green " at this military stuff so to speak.

Welcome to the merry band
