Evening all, just a quick post to tell you about an event I am organising in Leeds. It will be based at the Middleton Railway to the south of the city (good road and public transport access) over the August bank holiday weekend (24/25/26 August) and I would like to get in contact with anyone local who can bring along a military vehicle. We have trains, trams, planes, cars and horses but nothing military....a very important part of Leeds' industrial past with Barnbow munitions works being just around the corner. Preferably something small-ish like a armoured car/recon car or similar. I am particularly interested in anything made at Barnbow such as the Fox or Vixen armoured cars...this is only about 2 miles from where we will be holding the show so perhaps bring your pride and joy back 'home' for the weekend? Hi all, am trying to organise a bit of an event entitled Leeds Festival of Transport and I am keen to track down some products of the Barnbow tank factory. I think a Challenger might be a bit out of my range (no pun intended!) but I believe they made a Fox Armoured Recon car from the mid-70s onwards. There were around 200 made and they only came out of service in the arly 90s....does anyone know of an operational one or where I might find some more information about this fascinating facility? Hi all, my name is John and I am (as my screename suggests!) currently living in Leeds. I work as a high school history teacher and am interested in local history. My reason for joining this forum is to find out a little more about the Barnbow munitions/tank factory in Cross Gates and make contact with anyone who owns and runs any of their products (particularly the Fox armoured recon car). I am running an event later in the year about trasnport in Leeds and would low to get some people along to tell the story of this historic site. Looks like a great community you have here....so much of interest to sift through! John
