Hi As a matter of interest, where did you get the parts please. I need 4 slave cylinders.
Try power track for RL brake parts. I bought some seals for an RL some years back and was impressed by their service.

Lying about a mile out on the sandy bay at Aberlady in East Lothian, and only visible at low tide, are the remains of two mini submarines. They are in fact X T craft, which were the training version of the X craft. X craft were used in the attack on the German battleship Tirpitz.
The X T craft were towed to Aberlady Bay in 1946 and use for target practice by the RAF. Afterwards they were left to rot.
Corrosion and bomb damage have not been kind to the submarines, most of the outer casing has disappeared, and there are large holes in the pressure hull. The engines are still inside, they are Gardner engines of the type that were fitted to london buses.

Just be aware that nail polish remover has special oils and conditioners embedded in it so the solvent does not damage the nail tissue. Thats why it can leave a residue.
Best just to use acetone which is the main ingredient in nail polish remover.

The Dennis ran incredibly well considering we had only taken it out once before and then only for a mile, so doing the 50 miles to Brighton so easily was a real test which it passed with flying colours.
That sentence just sums up what a fantastic job you have carried out. The Dennis looks amazing.
Congratulations to all concerned on a stunning restoration.

Another excellent model Neil. What's next?
-
Thanks. Very interesting. It's great that you know so much of the old girl's history

Cracking photo. Why has the registration number changed? Would it have been reregistered after the war?
-
The rear tyres look like super singles.
-
Looking very nice.
-
That looks absolutley excellent sitting outside for the first time. You must be well chuffed! Well done to all concerned, and good luck for the push to get the Dennis finished in time.

I hope thats a genuine steering relay and not a S*&tpart one. The genuine one is fine the other will kill you.
Quite agree, I had one shear in two a few years ago. Luckily was in a field at the time, so no harm done. No more S***part for me.

I didn't use the kit, I had some strong bilge cleaner in stock, so used that before the sealant.

I used the Frost fuel tank sealer in my off roader tank about ten years ago. Despite much hard and abusive driving, it hasn't leaked again.
-
-
What about some frosts plastidip coating for the steering wheel?
May i also say what a fantastic job you are all making of this restoration, good luck with getting her on the road for Brighton.

Here are some more pics of the Hawick explorer. Previously it was at Whitrope railway heritage centre near Kelso. They had been gifted it and, I was asked by a friend to go and see if it would start. A couple of decent batteries and she fired up instantly, the engine is a sweetie all right. Pity about the rest of it, the rear prop had been removed and the output coupling on the gearbox was wobbling all over the shop. I tried driving her, but it was sitting in a dip and front wheel drive only was not enough to get moving.

That needs a bit of work! You could try asking the Albion register about it.

I can remember getting these for my pocket money in Berlin in 1969. I think they were only usable in the YMCA or the NAAFI

Hi Neil, The bonnet is hinged down the centre, and both sides are removable for maintenance. The sides are held closed by sprung hooks. Undo the hooks and lift the sides to access the engine.
I have attatched a couple of pics from the manual, if you want some photos of the engine let me know and I'll get some taken for you.
It would be good to see some pics of your model.
Hope this helps, Davie.

Yes, very sobering. I've just realised there is a whole series of these pages, with many yet to come. Here is the link to the index page.
