  1. Its good to see your photos as I will eventually need to pull mine to replace the fluid coupling seal. I knew it was a problem when I bought the vehicle and it improved with some use that it had not see for some time. But leaking " less " is not where I want to be, so it will come out.

Do you have any pictures of your vehicle? Would like to see it!!!!

  2. Well done guys. Great photos with good detail. Dedicated cart with big enough wheels to get around without stalling on a grain of sand. I also enjoy seeing the shop people work out of, at times finding as much interest in the tools , layout and equipment as in the vehicles themselves. Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the comments! Yeah I learned sometime back that if has wheels it makes life easier!!

    Cheers

  3. Did you guys get another one!? Are all of the Saladins left going to end up in Texas? :D

    :D:D

We found one in Texas actually, it had been purchased from a guy that used it in Tennessee for a collage football team, it was painted bright orange.

Here's a pick of all three.

Also saved a 4th one from UK that should be here by end of year.

I also had to purchase this! M936a2 wrecker.

Because my Saladin 04CC45 lost a gearbox band and we plan on pulling the turret and the power pack for rebuild. I found a company the can reproduce the bands and really all 3 Saladin's new ones:wow:!

So I'm setting up shop to rebuild gearboxes for the Alvis line and Ferret's etc.

  4. Sounds like it's entirely possible to have zero nitrogen in the accumulators after a year. What happens if you drive with no nitrogen -- is it bad for the vehicle? Is it unsafe? When I drove it last time, it did feel like the brakes were not effective, but it might be my imagination.

I am slowly getting the bits for a nitrogen fill station. I purchased the zero loss chuck (below), which lets you thread it onto the schrader valve to avoid pressure loss. Once chuck is threaded onto accumulator, you turn the T-handle, which depresses the pin inside the schrader valve and lets you take a reading with a connected gauge.

I am going to try to replicate the following setup:

Hello; I have 3 Saladin's I service, I also have complete kit setup for doing this, the pictures above will work with out the extra gauge. Also one of the Saladin's the fitting the holds the schrader valve was worn down so when you fitted the no loss chuck it would leak, I also have new schrader valve fittings " the brass part" and also have aircraft schrader valves because the schrader valves you would purchase a auto zone or something won't take the 1350 psi under pressure. That's 1350 psi after the hyd comes up to pressure.

If you would like some help with this I can do that, I'm in Texas!

  5. Thanks again Richard!!! A pint for you! Now it makes since!

    Best regards James

    Hi James,

Good to hear from you again.

The answer to your question is this. If you have reset the bus bar heights you will go through the sequence explained in the EMER (workshop manual), where by you mark the position of self adjuster nut, unhook spring from one end and turn nut back a quarter of a turn. refit spring and select the gear, push pedal repeatedly and watch to see self adjuster working. I should stop at the position you marked on the nut, if not then adjust the square headed bolt, in or out as required and repeat the operation until nut returns to the position it was marked at.

    Best of luck!

    regards, Richard

  6. Thank you Jim!

It is always good to hear positive feedback. The nut needs to be free on the thread, so now you know how to get the adjustment, I suggest you run it up and down the thread a bit with some penetrating oil, although I cannot imagine it is rusty.

    best regards,

    Richard

James Hill from Texas here, been sometime since we talked but I always follow your post.

Hope all is going great for you. We now have 2 Saladin's with 2 more on the way.

The reason I'm contacting you is to ask a question about your help with the ferret gearbox

    adjustment.

I've attached a photo of the gearbox you were helping with.

My question; After looking closely I notice that 4 out of 5 of the adjuster stops "circled red" that they all seem the same distance.

On the gearbox's I adjust I set the stops to the factory length, but have always wondered that if the bands are not new should I set them manually?

I hope this makes since on my question.

As always thank you for your time sir.

    best regards James 04CC45
