  1. I can confirm after looking through the 2 foot high pile of paper work that was supplied with her that she is a L1210, I have forgot the drawing number but she is classed as a bridging crane rated at 10 tons. The paperwork starts from the factory delivery note in 1958 to her last service in 2004, there is every service sheet, insurance certificate, list of faults and parts used etc etc all the way through her life, at the end she was only doing 8 miles between services. In 1996 she had a fancy lift computer fitted and the new engine in 1990 cost £1250 +vat, the last part to be fitted was a number plate lamp at a cost of 40p. Had good fun with her to day as we got the crane engine fired up and ran the crane, however a blown fuse in the computer had us confused for a while as some crane functions would not operate and some would. Is the steering supposed to be very, very heavy as you can just about turn the steering wheel. All the pedals are over to the left with the clutch more or less in front of the steering column, so as you say makes it very akward to drive.
  2. It was issued when new. Thus if issued to the RAE she would not have carried any markings and so I asume she looks correct.
  3. She was delivered new to RAF Llanbedr on the 18/03/1958 from Steels Engineering Products, Crown street, Sunderland, as per the contract with the Direcotorate of FV, Scotland. Reg No - RGX756 (she still carries this in Civvy life) Chasis No - 16951 Pool No - 1304 Makers no - 5048 No number can be found similar to the one mentioned in the earlier post. Will this allow her RAF record card to be located.
  4. We are lucky that she comes with all her documention and has a full service history, she had a engine change in 1990 and has only done 600 miles since and has completed a total of 32,000 miles since she was built in 1958. I will look up her serial number tomorrow, which museum will hold her history/record card. There is the original blue showing through around the fuel tank. A local MV dealer has a 1951 one and his is in an original all yellow colour scheme.
  5. Thanks for info, would be intrested if anyone has any photos of her or if she had a name.
  6. Here is the AEC arriving yesterday, she was last on active service at RAF Llanbedr in 1990. Would anyone know what markings she would have carried. Picked the paint up today for the Centurion, kindly donated by a local paint manufacturer/distributor.

It was announced yesterday that the RAF Millom museum is to take a lease on the former HMS Macaw site and its remaining buildings (a former RN Air Station - non flying) nearby to the existing museum. The site will be initially dedicated to the Fleet Air Arm, Fleet & Royal marines along with Army and Military Vehicles. There will also be a Home front display including two prefab bungalows. It is hoped to have a limited opening from Easter weekend at this site and fully open in 12 months. 21. Dear All It comes with great regret that we have to announce the cancellation of "Operation Bombard 2" 2006 - 5th & 6th August 2006. This decision has come about from a lack of sponsorship for the event, we had managed to get commitment for everything we needed including the use of a new site with better facilities etc, however we required a certain amount of underwriting of the costs to make the event viable in this we have been unsuccessful. So once again the museum wishes to thank everyone for their support past and future. However we are organising a Living History Weekend to tie in with our annual Veterans Reunion, you will all be more than welcome to attend in form you wish and mount a static display for the visitors and veterans a like, a small event was held last year and was felt to be a success, there will be once again evening entertainment by DJ Hepcat Mike. The event will be held on the weekend of the 2nd & 3rd September 2006.
