  1. So when i originality got my Mk it looked like it had a bit of a leak in the rear wheel hubs ( it was mentioned in the MOT) and the old owner said he got it fixed, well i cleaned away the old oil and it seems to be fine BUT, i got a leak from the rear axle, keeps driping,i put into the hole in the axle 1 and a half liter just before the weekend , i found on this forum a scan of 1 page from a manual stating that it takes 3 and a half liters so im happy i put some in ( its was full to the hole)

Im gessing i have a old seal that is leaking, i feel the bottom and bit of material are coming off, not metal more like fiber, anyone know how to fix it......i keep trying to get a scan of a manual or parts list but im not having any luck, and as im in Iceland getting a reprint sent from vinntagemvmanuals is going to cost me a arm and a leg.... i dont even know the number of the seal

i went for a run this last weekend for 200 or 300 km ( not to sure how far as the speedo and odmonitour packed in after the first 10 km of driving)staying the night in the truck (not to cold this time as summer is on the way) good fun and managed to find some good bad roads to play on not to far from the capital

ive never tryed it ,but i know you can use stuff like Blue devil sealant in head gaskets and they have one for A/C and engine leaks on the seal but i cant find anything for rear axles....any of you guys know of something i could use to stop the leak easy or maybe you know the seal number or if it maybe another problem

  2. HiJ

ust writing to tell anyone intrested that im in contact with a guy on Ebay who scans and then sells CDs of manuals, and he is currently doing the Bedford MK and MJ, normaly you get lots of diffrent types of manuals ( electrical, gearbox, ect) and parts cataloges on the same CD and buy the look of the other mauals it should be around 15 quid, a lot better than buying the reprints at 25 or 50 quid a manual, it would probley cost like 1 or 2 hundred quid for all the manuals

so if you are intrested please write to the guy aswell to incurage him to get the scanning project finnished ( i think he is about halfway)

    on ebay he is fv1601

  3. Well the yellow triangle is from the campsite we stayed on in Amsterdam, sorry if that was missleading.

It also has 45 stencaled on the top of the mudgaurd, which i belive is the airpresser of the wheels,

there is a small amout of yellow lettering on the front near the passanger part of the window, but too little to make out what it said (but it was 2 lines)

And i belive the black strip (which with a camera flash in the night goes floresent in photos) that goes all the way around the cab is a marker to see how far it will go in water (ive been told the trucks been waterproffed)

  4. door.JPG Hi

Can anyone recognize the marking of this Bedford MK, it was released by the MOD in 2001, it looks like it has a tiger claw crossed with a bayonet...maybe it doesent mean anything, but it would be fun to know a little about its history, but i dont have time or energy to go chasing up the military museums,

I belive its in desert paint...but even that im not sure about

  5. Hi

Ive recently got a Bedford Mk, its been downrated to 7.5 by svtec, but to my eyes, the back of the truck is not level, looks like the box on the back is to heavy, (box says its somthing like 4.3 ton...dont know if that true) but it has a new MOT as a caravan, so i get thre MOT guys would have spotted somthing up...

Im in Iceland now with the truck...and next year off to Africa....the truck will probley never get to England again...so im nt worryed about the legal downrated stuff..

but is there a way to easly fix this....i dont care if its rated 7.5 or 10 or 100,000ton im off to Africa...this stuff does not matter, just i want to avoid as many snaped leaf springs as possable

Any Ideas...i cant seem to upload photos...so the are some here on my site http://vikingsacrossafrica.webs.com/apps/photos/

Any sugestions would help...i cant workout what svtec took out

  6. Hello

I've got a pile of brand new tyres on used Bedford rims taking up space in the garage - you could always buy those... Or just come and measure them if you're near Gloucester!!

Thanks anyway, and if i change me mine and dicide to rent a van for the day and come and get one i will tell u

  7. Welcome Garry. Those Icelandic 4x4s with oversize tyres for the snow are the business!. I guess the Bedford MK runs on 20.5 x 25 tyres when you're at home in the snow? :D

Im still on the standard 12.00x20 tyres, im having a bit of a problem finding a spare in the southeast of england ( as this is were i will be driving the truck from in April to Iceland)

  8. My GF would say ive gone Bedford crazy, i think she will kill me one of these days

Ive got a MK, im going to drive it up first to Iceland and then in the newyear drive it down to Capetown taking 6 months

My truck is in portsmouth in storage as im in Iceland right now ( but im English) i will be picking it up and driving it to dover in early April 8th,9th or 10th

Any chance you know were to get a wheel ( rim) for it, ive been driving myself crazy trying to get one in the south east of england, but no luck so far,its 10 stud and it takes 12.00x20 tyres ( i have a contact to get a tyre already).I dont want to drive up north as thats were it looks like all the wheels are.
