  1. Hi all, to add to my MK1 Sankey Narrowtrack and RTS Rangemaster (unidentifed role) trailers I today picked up an ex RN FV2381 ABDA built by Universal Engineering and into service in '97.

On the disposal form the origination unit is FFS(AIR)MASU, UIN N5618N. I'm not finding much on what this unit is/was anyone have any ideas?

    Cheers

  2. I'm guessing there is not as much interest in the more modern stuff as the older stuff but a Nepolionic war wooden trailer isn't much use to me so as per my previous thread I've bought this

I got it home yesterday no problem and today stripped it down to check it over and replaced all the 24v bulbs with 12v.

I've no idea as to it's military use but it has a odd looking frame on the front and clearly something was bolted behind, in the load area were 3 retaining bars and a earth point so something electronic was in it, a couple of 2" holes may have been drains or exhaust? as far as I know it was built in 1995 for BAE systems and has been in reserve stock since then?

The reason for buying this was I wanted a trailer that could be used as a flat bed or high side or with just the sticks for a ladder rack, as you can see the options are pretty good.

To reduce the weight I've removed the lifting points (the rear lifting points slid out from the chassis on solid steel bars) and that has shifted a lot of Kg's, I will probably remove the front drop down legs as well as they are not needed.

Hitched to the 110 Landy it tows very nice and doesn't look too out of place

Not too much needed to do to the trailer now, a little bit of rust to clean up but nothing to drastic.

If anyone has any info on this trailer it would be most welcome.

    Cheers

  3. I gather there were different lengths of bags but were there any variations in pattern/design?

I've never seen any variations just various states of repair from a lovely plump new ones to thin tattered old ones, I still have a 70's (I think) one and a nice newer one tucked away some place.

  4. Hi folks, I was wondering if anyone has any experience using Owatrol oil and Rust-Oleum CombiColor satin finish together? Was thinking this may be a good solution to preserve my Sankey trailer chassis and maybe even to spruce up the tub a bit, The previous owner had painted it in Hammerite with what looks like a yard brush at night while wearing an EBS mask backward, so I'm not looking to restore it to its original glory just to make sure it will last a good few years to come.

  5. Hi all, I bought this week the above trailer on Fleabay as a general use type trailer and was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of these?

So far I know it was built in 1995 by RTS at thier site on the old Langar airfield in Nott's, it's kinda coming home as I can see the airfield from by upstairs windows :) as far as I can gather it's 1 of 9 built and put in reserve storage until Witham shifted them last year.

I got it as it's a good size and the sides and post all remove to form a flatbed if required and with a 9mm? solid steel floor is typically over engineered for the mod.

I don't pick the trailer up until next week but am interested in any info about it, especially the bars on the A frame.

I've attached a picture from the seller but will post up some better one next week.

    Cheers all

  6. Hi everyone, just thought I'd say a quick hello as I'm the new kid round here, not too many toys as yet as I've just retired time done from the Senior Service and now finally have some spare time to play.

Only have my Sankey narrow track on the drive now as my ex-mod SIII landy is gone now with a civvy replacement, but I have just picked up a new (to me) ex-mod RTS trailer on fleabay that I'm collecting next week.

Right off for a mooch around the forum for a few mins (or hours), now where did I put the Hob Nobs...
