Hi,
I am looking to move my CVR(T) in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if anyone provide any recommendations for transport companies, preferably in the north / north east but I'm happy to be flexible on that.
Thanks

Thanks for the link Chris, I'll get one of those ordered.
Chas, thanks I'll have a look at the positions of all of the switches, it is possible that something is set wrong.
The fuse problem still has me puzzled though.

Hi,
Does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for the driver's instrument panel in a CVR(T)?
I have discovered an issue with the indicators on my Spartan and I could do with a 'map' before I delve in.
Basically, they work fine when the ignition is off, left, right and hazards work as they should.
As soon as you switch the ignition on, they stop working.
All of the other lights are (at the moment....) working fine.
In addition I think the flasher unit fuse has been bypassed as removing it when the indicators were flashing did nothing!
Cheers

15 Sqn I think, worth a shot though, thanks.
I'll sort some photos if the weather ever improves, I'll likely start a seperate thread though.

Mike,
The numbers are from a local auto factors, you need to try the old backstreet places as Halfords wont sell them.
Chris
Thanks I'll have a look around

Thanks Chris,
There doesn't appear to be a plate anywhere around the rear door, so I'm assuming its been removed at some point.
I got written confirmation of the date into service when I bought it, unfortunately I need a date of manufacture as well to keep the DVLA happy.
I also have a partial allocation history from the RAF Museum which also has the date into service on it.
A work colleague who used to work with CVR(T)'s said there would likely be a plate with a load of manufaturer data on it somewhere, including chassis number, build date, batch/contract number etc.
I was just wondering if I was looking in the wrong places, but it looks like its missing from mine.

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can give me some pointers on where to look for a manufacturer's build plate on a Spartan?
(If such a thing is fitted)
I've got the hull number off the plate on the outside, but I'm looking for a build date which I can't narrow down more than 1981. (There's a stamped plate in the cupola with it on - and its date into service was in October 1981)
I'm wondering if it might have been covered by the 'foam' insulation somewhere, otherwise it might be missing.
Thanks in anticipation

Very nice!
This may be a daft question, but where did you get the numbers/letters for the numberplates from?
They look a lot neater than I think I can paint.

Well done,
I can't understand insurance at all, my car (a ford focus) costs twice as much to insure fully comp as my spartan!
(The matador is about 1/8th the cost of the car!)
Granted there is a limited milage on the spartan but still...
Finding someone that would insure me at 23 on the spartan was tricky though, most companies said 25 and a few said 30!
The odd thing being you can hold the required tracked vehicle licence from 21

Its about as local as they get around here.
Maybe next year, its not road registered yet.
Hoping to sort that tomorrow afternoon on the way home from work.
Then I need to take the tracked vehicle test.
If it had been registered before I bought it last month it might have been possible.

Thanks
I thought even I couldn't have missed something the size of a 432!

Nice photos
Was the 432 that appears in a couple of them there both days?
I was there on the Sunday and don't recall seeing it.
(Being about half blind doesn't help either, there's a fair chance I missed a few things)

Welcome,
Nice to see another North Yorkshire resident on the forum

go see some of the local farmers, they might have room under a barn for some beer money each month.
I'm exploring as many options as possible, my Matador is on a friends farm, I don't really want to impose on him though, he has enough of his own stuff (agricultural) taking up all his available space without my help!

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the offer, unfortunately I'm near(ish) to Whitby on the east coast, Cumbria is a bit far.
Thanks again

Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any suggestions where I can rent some storage space for a CVRT in North Yorkshire?
Any leads greatly appreciated.
Edit: I have just about enough space at home, but I doubt the neighbours will appreciate its presence, can't think why... )
Thanks,
Mike

I have just received a reply from HMRC.
"You would need to have the tank professionally cleaned to remove any trace of marked fuel and to retain evidence of such work having been carried out in the form of a receipted invoice."
(I have edited out some sections of the email which I didn't think were needed, the above text is the entire reply - except for dear sir, yours sincerely etc.)
That seems fairly clear cut to me, thanks for everyone's advice.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where you can get the tank cleaned? I am fairly confident I can remove any rust and grime out of it but the additional piece of paper might give a bit more piece of mind.
Cheers

Thanks,
I need to do a bit of work on the engine anyway so it'll get new filters and such.
The auto reply I got from HMRC said they aim to reply within 15 working days, so I'll wait and see.

Thanks guys,
I thought if the tank was fully drained, cleaned and filled with white diesel I'd probably be on the right track, I'll keep a couple of receipts with me as well.
I've emailed HMRC to see what they reckon, I shall await a reply and post any relevant info on here when I find out.

Hi everyone,
Apologies if this has been covered before but I am wondering if there is an approved method of cleaning out a fuel tank before you put white diesel in it.
I understand that to drive my truck on a road it has to have white diesel in it, and I have no problem with this.
However what do you do if it has been run on red previously? (off the road)
I am led to believe that the dye in red diesel leaves a lasting trace, so what can you do other than drain the tank/fuel system and fill with white diesel?
Is there a chance that the white diesel could be contaminated, making it appear like a tank of red?
Do I just need to carry receipts showing that I've bought loads (its a big fuel tank) of white diesel?
I have heard about paying the extra duty on red and keeping the paperwork but it seems to me to be a bit of a hassle.
Thanks in advance

Welcome aboard, restoration pictures are compulsory. Can't wait to see them
P.S. It doesn't have to be green
Hi,
I have posted a photo taken not long after it arrived in the 'matador gallery'
http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?7083-Matador-Gallery&p=299210#post299210
It is very much 'not green'...
My intention is that since it isn't ex WW2 it will remain a timber tractor (and blue)
I'm fairly sure it was an RAF matador based on the year, although what sort of body it will have had I don't know, probably a flatbed though.
P.S. liking the militant....
