  1. The green flying jackets became Iconic as at the time 1976ish the Air corps was still mainly made up by air crew from host units. No kit was standard as such.It was only with the introduction of AAC Regts that things became a bit more well....regimented, much to the dismay of indpendant flights.

    Scout pilots and air gunners as I recall liked the DPM flying jacket. Where as sioux pilots preferd the green flying jackets.

    Not the stretcher fit I saw or used.

    This fit was mounted on the outside of the LWB tub. Hinged folded up between the tilt and sticks when not in use.

    Short for space this provided my bed whilst not on radio stag. LO and FAC with HF VHF UHF a nice little repro if someone has a LHD FFR that they want to make a little special. VRN 66HG90.Crew of three with most of the office work carried out from the rh seat. or by remote away from the wagon. Mast fitted on rear bumpet. Shankley not normaly towed, but prepositioned within ops area for Rats and Fuel replen.

    Although not SF I wore the artic smock in preferance to SF smock in 1984. after attending LRRPS.

    Couple of sand bags sown into the double seam increased carriage of ammo or root crops / rabbits when on Escape and evasion. Looked like you had a pair of t**s when worn with belt kit but effective way of carrying expendables

    In 1980 I wore an DPM SF smock pockets not bellow as I recall and to same design as earlier 1940 ? desert pattern.

    When "in" my first office was a series III Light weight FFR CP with a shankley trailer. With a 24/7 curry on the go thanks to our no1 burner. If you had petrol then you could "cook and go"

    Later my office became a series III WLB FFR a brill wagon (FFR) in that they just go and go.I found it strange that when in an FFR your right foot was always to the floor.

     

    GS Series III soft top was more of a hit and mis affair some good but most crap.

    Rattle is a brill motor and still carries the spirit that only a military wagon can.

    Retired from active service. But OMD still sticks

    Rattle & Hum ? Ever known a landie not too.

    Been my pride and joy for 5 years now, some civvy fits 90 seats CB, Roll Bar.

    Smile every mile as standard fit for the type.
