  1. Hmmm, It appears that the RB may have something going for it after all - I see that they're still available on the mim sites, so I may go for a look (after I've paid for the new gates... Booo) RTS
  2. Hello & thanks for the replies... RB was one of the trucks I'd looked at, but I'd heard they were a bit suspect... possibly unfounded. Unimogs were up there, but the 55MPH limit was possibly an issue. I did look into an Iveco 4x4 daily chassis cab but that was basically Unimog money without the Unimog capability. I've hired a motorhome for the next bank holiday, so I'm "educating" the missus to camping (in a posh way).... Nirvarna would be a demoutable 4x4 crew cab truck with either a camper or a box i.e Thunderbird style. There's a place in south manchester that does sublime demout boxes, but even the pic's look expensive!!. RTS
  3. Hello, This is my second post (should have been my first!!) I'm Richard, based in the North West of the UK - OK Manchester to be precise! I've inherited an interest of military vehicles & objects from my late father and I've now only got a couple of trinkets left - as most of his items were cashed in by my mother who thought they were of no interest to anyone. Still I'm the only person on the block with a WW2 aircraft battery charger for sorting the flat car battery out with and my children have loads of fun with the field telephone set instead of walkie talkies (until they put their palm over the dynamo terminals whilst making a call!) My hobby as such is off-road motorcycles, as such I was looking for a 4x4 Merc Sprinter - but as they're like hens teeth & £40k new, I drifted into ex-mil trucks as a cheaper alternative. My first port of call was looking at Russian trucks - but it appears there is some speculation as to whether the primary sellers in the UK are reliable - I'm also not sold on the multi-fuel concept - so I'm happy to be educated. UK Trucks all appear to be heavy for an unladen weight - what's the bed made out of lead?, so I settled on a sub 7.5T wish list - this is also the max kerb weight for vehicles staying on the road overnight within the M60 - wouldn't happen in reality - but what a bizzare by-law! The whole thing has been put on hold due to fuel going mental, I still think there is room for a 4x4 truck with a demountable box / camper on my drive - the missus however has a slightly different viewpoint...... Anyway.... that's where I'm at.... so Hi! Regards, RTS
