The Tiger is now back on public display in "The Tank Story" hall.

Been a few years since my last visit (due to go again soon) - but from memory it was the Churchill Crocodile...

If you haven't been in the last couple of years you wont have seen the Museums new hall "The Tank Story". This is were one of the Museums Churchill tanks reside along with the Crocodile Trailer Unit.

The Tank Museum houses a massive collection of Military Vehicles from throughout the world, this thread gives people a forum to discuss their favourite items in the Museums collection.

Coming soon from Haynes: The Tiger Tank Owners Workshop Manual. Written by The Tank Museum Curatorial team as they have been working the Tiger restoration… I bet they wish they’d had one when Tiger 131 arrived at the Museum in 1951!

This announcement proved a big hit on the Museums Facebook account.

Tiger 131 has been temporarily removed from public display, whilst detailed investigation work is undertaken as part of the continuing restoration project.

The famed German World War Two tank has been towed to the Museum’s workshop and as a result will not be on general public display during the winter months.

However, at 12.00pm each day a guided tour is being led to the workshops for a viewing of the Tiger. The tour will depart from the Museum’s reception area, and as places are limited they will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Sadly, we are unable to offer pre booking for this tour.

£80,000 has been raised to support this major project, with donations from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the MLA Prism fund and from public donations.
