  1. The helmet has an OD finish with a sand finish instead of a cork finish. The bails look original fixed. The rim is a stainless steel, but the seam on the front is not realy visable. I removed the OD, but the rim is flattened I think with a hammer. In the front of the helmet shell are the numbers 800 4(?)3 I guess. Will have to remove the OD to be sure.
  2. I got a M1 Helmet with fixed bails, but it has a sand finish on the shell. Did the Americans use a sand finish on their helmets in WWII?? Maybe late? There is also a number stamped in the inner front site of the shell. Did the early M1 helmets have these numbers on the inside??
  3. This summer from Saturday June 17th until Sunday June 25th , the Santa Fe Water & Sand Festival opens its doors for the second time. During this spectacular event, morte than 150 allied vehicles from the Second World War will be present, and available for showing, driving and viewing. Among these vehicles are very rare and unique items, as well as more 'common' tanks, draglines, jeeps transporters and many more vehicles. There is a real rough terrain prepared for the tank drivers or deardevills. The Santa Fe Water & Sand Festival 2006 is organised by the “Historical Military Conservation Group H.M.V.C.G. Santa Fé” http://www.santafe-online.nl/NL/index.html
  4. Hi, Does anyone know what kind of blue the vehicle numbers on the hood where? I want to put these on my early GMC. According to the serial number CCKW352 52042 it must have the Army number W-474364 in blue on the hood
  5. Thanks for the info. I'll ask Joel. I didn't know they where also used by the Air Force. The only thing I know is that these receivers where used in Arillery positions. The gunners received their coordinates on the BC-728 from HQ. They where also used as warning recievers in GMC which transported German POW's. There is a picture of a GMC in the book Emile Becker.
  6. I got a BC-728 Receiver for in my CCKW 352. Can anyone tell me how the mounting (FT-338) looks like, and if or where I can get this mounting?? This was not with the receiver when I bought it.
