  1. Thanks to you all for your advice on this,I have had to submit to the council a short letter stating that I will arrive and depart the venue before and after opening hours, with Hazards on etc, will put signs on vehicle Do not climb etc.

cant really do much more than that.

Shame the local council just want to cover their backs and pass on any problems.:-(

  2. I have a MJ Wheel with the Split re attaining ring, with both ends meeting, without the required gap.

I do understand that this could mean that the ring will not be holding properly.

Has anyone come across this before, does it mean that the ring requires replacing or just scaled up with rust and not fitting correctly.

I don't want to mess with this without a safety cage.

Not sure if the ring or wheel may need replacing .

The wheel is on the vehicle and holding 45 psi.

  3. Hi Mark,

Some brill photos, have been to the Lincs.aviation centre a couple of times last year and spoke to one of the two brothers,

he told me that they were out bid at Blackpool but later bought the Lancaster when it had been used as a gate guardian.

They also plan to get it flying again.

    Darren..

  4. Thanks for that, interesting to know that the rolling road also checks axle weight,so perhaps better to be over the 65 percent than under weight.

still think that the rear axle plated weight should have been altered when springs cut etc.

Will try and speak to someone at VOSA today !

  5. Some places will let you tie the load sensing valve up for the test as long as you release it before you go back on the road. Not sure if that will help you but it's how we got a box-body RB44 to pass as there was nowhere practical to put weight.

Thanks for that I will ask visa if possible to do that,as sounds a good idea.:-)

  6. I agree with you Tony, new weights should be on the new plate issued when it was downrated.

Thanks fellas but new vosa plate cert.still showing 5 ton rear axle load and I think to put around 3 ton on is just going to be too much for the Springs I will contact vosa to see if I can get the spec.altered on plating cert.

  7. Bedford Mj due for test next month.

Local vosa station now closed, new independent ATF does not have a hydraulic jacking/load beam,so with now have to take truck with approx.3 ton load on board for load sensing valve brake test.(65 percent of 5.5 axle rating)

The problem is that the MJ is down rated to 7.5 Ton (Rear springs cut)so not sure if suspension will take the weight, not to mention headlight beam check with front end up.

    Any ideas anyone ?

  8. APRIL 5TH TO THE 7TH Weeton Camp NEAR BLACKPOOL

Steve Flitcroft has asked that we publicise this event for all to see, but make sure you book in.

"SC & NL are pleased to offer a Weekend at Weeton Army Camp 5-7th April. This will be part of a Families Day for the Camp whilst the Regiment is in Afghanistan.
