  1. NOS Clinometer Mk 4 dated 1944 as used on a wide variety of weapons including Vickers MG and various field guns including 25 pounder.  Fully functional as you would expect after careful storage. I am looking for 95 pounds or near offer. I can post anywhere at cost.

  2. I just came across this and was reminded that I have a Service Instruction Book and a Workshop Manual for the AEC armoured car which I intend to sell. There is a cancellation stamp on one which might have given a clue as to when they were taken out of service but there is no date on it, I am sure the Tank Museum at Bovington would know. It sould have been related to the phasing out of the ammunition though the 2 pounder was retained for the Daimler. If anyone is interested in the manuals email me on douglasmatheson@btinternet.com

  3. Is there any chance that you can join us at the Alford Transport Museum on 21/22 Sep for our military vehicle show which is combined with their autojumble? Many of the lads will be up on Sat 21 to camp over and celebrate. We will be allowed to sell our surplus gear on the Sunday. Hopefully we will get a really good turnout again. My email is  douglasmatheson@btinternet.com.

  4. Hi you don't fancy an ex- Royal Navy Bedford fire  engine/pump  ( a red- )Green Goddess? I have done a certain amount of resto/preservation but it needs a fair bit of work to complete but has done only 5000 miles and runs/stops/steers. I am in Aberdeenshire. I don't know if this was posted as our broadband was very difficult so this may be a repeat.

    • Thanks 1
  5. Hi Alec, our broadband is a nightmare when we have storms  so I will have to be quick. It is a No5 cookset I have and an oven so sorry if I have raised false hopes. I also have a LR ambulance dated 73/74. We are having a Scottish military vehicle rally at Alford transport museum on 22 Sep this year. Any chance you could come down? It is also an autojumble/militaria so you might do some buying or selling. Douglasmatheson@btinternet.com.

  6. I have an unusual ex Royal Navy Green Goddess for sale. I have posted more details under the British Vehicles forum. I believe the RN only had 6 all to Home Office spec less the amber lights and they were painted red. I am open to reasonable offers.. More details and pictures can be provided on request.

  7. I have a very rare ex Royal Navy Green Goddess which is similar spec to the Home Office vehicles but has no flashing lights above the cab. It was painted fire engine red in service but is currently in grey primer. I have carried out most of the body restoration but I need to make room for a new project so wish to dispose of it as it is. It has only covered around 5000 miles and drives/stops .The front wings are a bit rough and need attention but it only needs minor work to complete. I am aware that they are no hugely valuable so I am looking for reasonable offers. I can get photos to you if you are interested.

  8. Hi I have a friend who may be interested in buying this. His name is Peter Thompson and he believes that his father used to  work on these. He doesn't do the internet so wondered whether you would give him a call  on 07971 801073.. He is currently in the Liverpool area until the weekend so would like to arrange to see it before then if possible. With thanks Doug.

  9. Just when I thought I couldn't get more confused.....! That is very interesting about the re-allocation of VRNs which adds another level of complication. I wonder if the RN have a record of their vehicle fleets somewhere? Thanks for the information which will help fit the jigsaw together.

  10. Thanks for your help Ted. The plot thickens as they say. My main worry is whether mine is pre-1960. My understanding is that all the goddesses were built from 1955-1957 however the late grille and bug eye front indicators might tell a different story.

  11. Thanks Ted. The chassis number is RLHZ3 49040 and I believe the Navy number was 05RN81 as that is stamped on a tag on the keyring. The chassis and underneath is painted black but the body seems to have been red from the outset as there is no sign of green or blue paint. However I would be very interested to find out more and its year of manufacture. It is currently on a Q plate having been registered in 1996 however I would like to re-register with an age appropriate number.

  12. I have recently acquired an ex-RN 'Green Goddess ' 05 RN 81 and wondered whether anyone can shed any light on it's history. Apparently it was stationed at a nuclear facility because of it's ability to pump huge quantities of water in the event of an accident. It was painted red and seems to be a late model as it has a later pattern grille and chassis number. It needs a lot of restoration including some new panels at the front, wings and upper. Are these available anywhere ( same as Bedford RL etc. ) ?
