  1. As some of you might know I've recently replaced the left hand side rear idler and track adjuster on my 432.

Well.. I was pottering around doing some work to the old girl today when I looked at the right hand side track, and something didn't look quite right. On closer inspection I noticed that the guide horns on the inside of the track were tight up against the inside of the outer rear idler roadwheel. At first I assumed this was just because I'd done a fairly tight turn to get her into the parking spot. So I took her for a 200/300 yard drive with no turns and looked again.. and to my disappointment the guide horns were still tight against the inside of the idler. A quick check with the tape measure at the 3 & 9 o'clock positions on the idlers to the hull found that the recently replaced left hand side was about 19" at either end whereas the right hand side idler was about 18.5" at 3o'clock and 19.5" at 9o'clock.

So.. I now have another twisted rear idler! :banghead:

Or always have had anyway... but regardless of how it happened, my 432 is purely a toy and I can't really afford to replace another track adjuster so soon. So if I carry on running it as it is how long will it last (I assume that like asking how longs a piece of string?) more importantly will it damage anything else? I assume at some point the hub will either let go and collapse or it'll throw the track or both.

    Cheers, James

james, can you post a pew pics? or perhaps email me them to jez@aplusgroup.eu ill be happy to help / advise

  2. paul, the alternator leads dont matter which way round they go.

    the 5 power leads do

theonly way to tell them apart if they are not marked is to use a multimeter or trial and error ,the 3 AC lead will have no power until engine is ran but the DC - and + will read voltage from battery.

sounds like you have AC and DC leads mixed up if engine wont turn over

    iain

i agree. one will be permanent Negative and one will be Permanent Live (this is with isolator on) these two go to the + and - on the engine then the other 3 are DC and dosent matter which order from 1-3 they go. if you get it wrong then normaly something obvious will happen like when you turn the isolator on, the starter motor will turn and engine will fire, dont pannic though just turn the isolator off. also agree that the alternator leads can go either way round, normaly if an alternator box packs up for the engine you can switch these so the radio isnt charged but your back to normal on the engine. services is fool proof and fuel should be marked but again simple. :)

  3. hello all, im doing a favour for a friend who owns a diesel 432, apart from marcus glen is there any one else out they that does the every day type of service spares , also a engine run solenoid.

and as it would seem that gretting this one road reg prob wont happend due to the new laws etc can any one reccommend a low loader in the gloster area and.... howmuch dothese guys usually charge for moving these around etc??

lots of questions i know but any help would be great

hey bud, do you mean start solenoid? i have some takeoffs, fully working, what part do you need? the solenoid or solenoid and houseing?, pm me for a price.

we keep a lot of other spares but not service parts. the fuel filters are agricultural and can be found / matched at any motor factors, all the rest is marcuss im afraid.

  4. Hi Jez

Thanks for reply, its burnt about a quarter of the lead so i think if i clean it up it should be enough to make a good connection, thanks for over, do you keep many 432 spares?

yes i have quite a lot of 432 spares. mainly the common stuff, all second hand though. however ive constantly got spare engine in for testing and making good for our own stuff, if there blown (like liners) then ill strip them.

  5. dave would you believe i have been searching behind every crack to find a spare pump and mounting plate to borrow and copy. if i could you would become my new best friend :) . im in sussex, where are you? did we meet last year at war and peace?

dave, i think im gonna stick witht he aftermarket system as the casing is going to be a nightmare to make. all i need to know is the current CC of the 434 pump? anyone kknow? dont want to blow a seal or go droopy (im already droopy enough) :).

dave, where about are you? any possibility i can come look at yours? i have so much missing that im having to make, especialy all the system for the ABS lockout, have the shocks but nothing else.

  6. Thanks to every one that replied, got the pack out to find the bl--dy negative lead to the starter off, looks as if it had been loose for some time as it has burnt the inside of the lead away.

Now i have the pack out i will service it and clean engine bay out .

Thanks again for every ones advise. ( Pics to follow)

how bad is the lead? is the connection going to arc again? think i have a few spares in the stores if you want one? they run over the engine, bit tricky to remove / refit but patience gets it done and worth it if its gonna involve taking the pack out again.

  7. Hi jez, whereabouts are you. I,ve got a spare pump on mounting plate and a spare drive shaft you can borrow to copy if you,re desperate.

Cant help with the valve chest but I wouldnt think it would be difficult to replace it with a civvy control block.Dont forget the shock abs lock out control on the end of it as well.

  10. Hi Jez,

Some pics of a 434. It is DavePs a member on this forum. If what you want is not there, let us know exactly from what angle you want as I am going up to help fix it this weekend and we can get a couple of extra pics.

There is another set of a few pics of the 434 in the last tender

thats a great help Dougy, thanks. it apprears i am completely missing a bracket, in this photo you can see whats missing, i have the ram and the second arm but nothing to join the ram to it :nut:

im also missing a whole lot of other parts so am making a spline shaft to go into the PTO and into a aftermarket pump with a connecting piece (for when the crane is not in use) pain in the bum but so be it. the spool valves in those pics are different to my ones, only slightly, are they aftermarket? im in need of new ones as one of the arm-spool piston connections has snapped and not repairable. any pics you could get and dimentions of the part missing would be great, i can then make a new one from there.
