the mount looks like the periscope mount for the M8 tank periscope. but that lists the M39 and M46 unfortunatly the M45 is not listed in the TM 9-2300s for standard artillery and fire control material.

heres my problem.
in "stirlings desert raiders" he makes absolutly no mention of crossing the highwy or railroad tracks. coming or going. whitch makes me think it was south.

I didnt have any problem locating and marking the train station.

same thing down the line at fuka. and was able to mark the airfield there. if anyone knows that number.
if you click on the marked outline it will bring up a data page. and that page has a link to the german target photo.
this is the first I'v herd of LG-15 tho.

and for our next quiz.:cool2:
wheres Sidi Haneish airfield LG-12 located? or did David Stirling take that to his grave with him?
I find it hard to believe the most famous jeep raid in history, is so undocumented.

as near as I can tell the power lines follow the Trigh Capuzzo all the way to the Fort area,
at the Egyptian border crossing.
any clues as to where fort madelnia is/ was. on the southern end of the border?

unfortunatly I cant seem to zoom on your map? guess I dont have the right program.
looking at the NZ website, I think this must be the blockhouse.
I noticed on the wikimapia site theres imbeded pics on another level. but there way to the west.
OK were looking at the same pics. Yah when you turn off the pics you dont see any bldgs. I think the guy laid em out perty randomly.
I marked what I think must be the blockhouse. and measured 5 miles from the mosque to the block house. I see a white spot halfway in between that must be the stone airport tower.

I do notice another east west track running past the last (southern) gun emplacment you think this could be the Trigh capuzzo?
