  1. What put me off WPR this year was the statement on the online booking that said its a Tuesday to Saturday show so if you cannot be there fir that period don't bother booking. I have since read that some members left early but did anyone arrive a day or more late and get in?

Also as for enthusiasts doing their own thing I wonder what the cost of the public liability insurance would be for a 3,000 vehicle show?

Perhaps a bit of crowd funding to set up a show might help?

We were there from Sunday to Sunday, we could drive around the site even through the arena most of the time, had no problem going in or out of the site at any time, saw plenty of MVs arriving most days and getting in ok, and as to having to stay untill Sunday morning a lot of MVs left on Saturday evening without any problems, of course I do think that the organisers did go over the top with there statement about don't bother booking if you can't stop while Sunday

  2. As the name says, it is an auction, don't be fooled by the low starting bids, most if not all the vehicles sell for a lot more, have a look at previous auction prices on there web site to see what vehicles actually sold for

  3. Always wondered what had happened to it!!

Used to see it regualrly at shows in the 80's and 90's in the Cambridge/Bedford area

Interesting spin in the sales blurb.....................give it a few years with a new owner and it will be the vehicle that Churchill drove ashore on D Day :D:D

Interesting spin on the sales blurb........................ Withams ! nothing unusual there then

  4. Aren't we losing the plot, I thought this was about why you no longer attended this years War & Peace show, we have been going for the last 10 years, but didn't attend this year as we had other commitments, we will however be going down next year, even after reading all the comments and hope fully a lot of the problems will have been sorted out by then

  5. Unfortunately there are those that will not follow the rules, in the pub last night I was speaking to the farmer who's farm is at the end of the racetrack he said he has had to phone Rex already due to quads driving on his land.

Oh dear, its started all ready, hope fully Rex will sort out these kids on quads, if not the new show will get a bad reputation with the locals before its started, here's hoping that he can sort things out, but I'm still looking forward to a great show week

  6. will be the same as most years they will still be buzzing around on them

Hope fully with a brand new venue, things like kids on quads, large areas roped off with only one vehicle in , guns going off in the middle of the night etc etc should all be things of the past, well we can all live in hope !!

  7. Amazing job!

A friend of mine back in NZ has one quite similar as is looking for an Owners/Operation Manual for the Steyr Puch, Haflinger

Would you know were to find one or a reproduction/copy?

    Regards

    Tor

Hi Tor, I am the Club Secretary for The Haflinger and Pinzgauer Club UK, if you PM me your details I could put a wanted advert in the next club magazine, out mid January 2013, regards xmod 90

  8. There is nothing historically wrong with British type 'jerry' cans on US vehicles, due to wastage by vehicle crews after the Normandy landings there was a massive shortage and millions of cans were turned out by British factories and supplied to all Allied forces. If you look at pics of fuel dumps the cans stacked there are mixed types.

( See my previous comments ) Ok didn't realise that, does make sense though as you say millions of cans must have been turned out, thanks for the info

  9. Was it a British jerrycan or one of those 20L cans you buy in Motor shops these days? Are they sold in the states?

Don't know if they are sold in the States but for the price that the vehicle sold for ( plus he did spend $100 on a genuine first aid kit ) you would think that they could have found a US Jerry Can

  10. Also watched the program, its obvious that some editing was done as the ' Expert ' who looked and commented on the finished vehicle didn't mention that this model does not start with an ignition key, also if bought in the states, why did it have a British Jerry Can, do they actually make a profit as wages are not taken into account apart from this a reasonable program.

  11. Works with ambulances of all ages as well. :-D Often just a big smile and a wave and on you go.

Re Dartford Crossing, Own a Pinzgauer Ambulance 6x6 tows a Trailer 4 axle, go through crossing every year to War & Peace show, one year stopped at pay booth operator asked how much I usually pay, said a couple of quid, she then counted every axle and charged me as an arctic !!! no sense of humour some people :laugh:

  12. lets all hope it doesn't get used too often

Here, Here, but still a good idea to have a stolen board, it will be handy to look on if any thing is stolen, will save time looking on other threads, hope the CVRT is found

  13. Back In the day AC made a 350cc powered invalid carriage and a mate of mine used to work in the garage where they serviced them. Being toung and stupid, he and his mate 'tuned' the loan vehicle. The next customer in left his car for service and took the loaner. He got to the main road, gave it a fist full of throttle and wheelied it into a lampost on the opposite side of the road ....... :stop:

Hi There, just for your info the engines were made by Styer Puch and were infact a 500cc air cooled flat twin, these engines were a smaller version of the 650cc unit fitted to the Haflinger.
