I thought from the title of this thread you were being abusive towards owners of half tracks :red:
Ha ha no way, when you see the restoration jobs they do, they are definitely not idle! 😉
-
I also thought that John, but from looking at pictures of them they are similar but not the same.
thanks for the thought

I have just recently found a stock of tyres (see my other thread) and they also have other bits and bobs.
So anything I think may be interesting to you all I will post here.
There are some M6 periscopes. I did a search and they were fitted to the M3/M5 Stuart, M18, M4 sherman And others.
There are new ones and period military reconditioned ones.
Do you think there is a demand for these? Because I said it may be worth selling as a vehicle set, to help with the restoration of these vehicle's.
Because once they are gone thats it.
Thanks
Shaun

Hi everyone,
thank you
for all the p.m's (I didn't realise it would spark so much interest)
As for the chaps asking for other sizes as well as the ones I found, what I will do is go and have a look, note sizes, makes, and pictures, then I will post them up here
but please don't expect it done tomorrow, as it will be in my time, and I work (at work and at home) I will go down next week and start. (slowly) as I will have to man handle them all!!!
Thanks for your patience.

Hi all,
I have just found a stock of Dunlop track grip tyres, used but very good condition, in 12.00x16 & 9.00x16 sizes.
(not so many 9's though at the moment) I need to go back and have a look and take some pictures, there may be more!
So my question, what are they worth? (difficult to say without pictures, but they will follow)
Bear with me for replies, I'm not on here as much as I would like, (life is in the way)
Thanks for looking and your help

Wow, excellent. Thank you for that.
The prices are not a huge difference from over here with the exchange rate.
Only a pence or two difference depending on where you look.
but sometimes to drive an extra few miles to save a few pence is not worth the hassle.
Thanks again

See you all soon

he has had to phone Rex already due to quads driving on his land.
Thats what the police are there for? No?
But as you say, some will unfortunately ignore the rules! (who hasn't)
the farmer should charge them a fiver, and make some dish, also keeps them away from everyone else!

Hi chaps and chapesses
How much is the fuel (petrol) but perhaps also see the cost for diesel for the diesel ones, at the petrol station near by, (shell I think?)
And also if anyone knows, the price at the local supermarket for comparison
Thanking you kindly, it's just to see if it's worth filling up the jerry cans over here.

Anyone know if there is a cashmachine somewhere nearby that accepts foreign bankcards? There was one in Paddock Wood. I never bring enough cash anyway... :-D
I get mine before we go accross! It's only if we need any more in an emergency would I use a cash point, and only in desperate times from a service station.
you will pay huge for the exchange rate!

I've seen a few lorrys, trucks with white and red wheels nuts?
Why's this then?
Bill.
Some folk like to accessorise and "bling" their vehicle!
Look at some of the wartime stuff, they have more accessories and markings now than when in service.
The split rim nuts should be red and that's it.
The only ones usually painted white were the royal display ones, and then not allways!
When you see some of them with every hook, and fixing point, wheel nuts etc painted red or white, it looks so wrong! Ropes and shackles hanging off every point possible, They were never like that in service!
and the problem is, one person will have his blinged up like that, then someone else who has a vehicle will see it and think its supposed to be like that, then the cycle continues! Don't do it!
Thats great work on the k9, they are a nice truck, will have to come and see it if your at W&P.
Cheers

We will be accross from Belgium, so we will join in.
(but how will you notify everyone when it will be?) as some will already be there by the time you decide? :-D
Unless you have an idea now?

Good afternoon all.
I was speaking to someone connected (not directly) today, and they told me that the new show will be classed as public highway? As there are police stationed there?
is this true? Or just rumour control?
They said it is to stop late evening/night driving while drunk?
But if it is true, then it will concern a lot more, I.e. driving vehicles without the correct licences? Insurance, tax etc etc they can't do one thing and not the other? Road traffic regulations etc.
Not throwing a spanner in the works, but letting everyone know what he told me, so be aware!
im all legal, but for example, how many tracked vehicle drivers have catagory "H"
Cheers

I agree it is annoying, we also rope off a area of suitable size as soon as we arrive,
but we give the rest of our group a deadline to be there. (perhaps the exception of one or two that can't go so early)
then we reduce the area before the show.
Same as this year, I will be there this weekend, and have said to the others, if you are not there by Wednesday morning the area will be reduced to what we need.
A few years ago we let someone else come and camp with us, as they were trawling round for a place, it was no bother for us, and made a new friend in the process!
Lets hope they keep on top of it, but as you say they are doing a lot, so give them time
we can all debrief them on the good and bad after.
Its roasting over here, so let's hope the good weather stays for the whole show.
See you all soon! :cool2:
Edit: also today I was speaking to a chap over there, he said when you come to make sure you don't take the first (traders) entrance as its narrower!
go to the second one for exibitors, but it should be well sign posted!

Not having a C license
And you,drive a stolly???

shame the army didn't keep the MJ, fitted with power steering a tilting cab and possibly a 5th gear it would hold its own against the MAN SV?
They did, it was a marshalls body, power steering, 5 speed, I know I worked on a few!
-
Hi.
That will be a good thing to see and hear.
I hope you can gather a few more in, perhaps you could try and get a message to the 'Alvis Figthting Society' group as well to see if any thier 'Stolly' owners would like to join in ?. It's a pity more Stolly's aren't around or at least running as there does seem to be a fare few just wasting away in fields and the such places !.
I haven't got a Stolly but I've a machine from the same stable, a Saladin which I hope to get to this years W & P show, so looking forward to seeing you all at ' Hell's Corner '.
Thats another idea for a photo shoot, a FV600 Series gathering!

Might see if I can get mine off VOR status for the trip then.....

Been a while since I have been on, but have now gone through the pile.
Only 3 9.00 X 16
one is completely gone, the other two (on wheels) have great tread but have some age cracks.
We have lots and lots of 12.00 X 16's, (asking €10 a piece) ideal for some trucks and trailers. They are in great condition and are heavy duty
they are a bit too big for my landy!
Cheers
