    The photos of Bovington's 1920 Pattern Rolls-Royce interior are great, but the hardware varied a bit from that of the 1914 Pattern Rolls-Royce, which also varied somewhat from the Lanchester.  Here is a circa 1915 photo of the interior of a Lanchester.

    Normally there was at the right of the machinegun one holder for a ammunition box. it is not clear where other ammo boxes where stored. The turret is indeed turned by the body of the gunner. 

    Underneath you will see some photos we made of the interior of the Rolls Royce armored car in Bovington. This vehicle was made in the early twenties but by the same company who made the armor plating of the Lanchester.

    It's based In Belgium, but in November we go with the Lanchester to the lancaster insurance classic motor show in Birmingham.

  5. Very nice piece -but certainly neads some love and care:cry:, I'm pretty sure the muzzle brake was particular to the Romanian version. The style of the brake is very similar to that fitted to the enigmatic Schneider mle 1936 47mm a/t gun which was licenced built in Romania. There were only 160 in service in France when war was desclared in 1939, the French version was well used by the Germans as a field piece and converted to coastal gun both in shielded casements and open mounts and examples of both still exist in Norway where most of the then designated K332(f) served, the light weight of the design was valued in mountainous terrain compared to the more powerful German equivilent the 10cm K18. There were supposed to be some in the Channel Islands. I would think that perhaps a example of the field gun may remain in Norwegian colections.

     

    As to the Romanian version, it is possible that some of these guns went to Stalingrade as did some of the Romanian 75mm Vickers (barrow) anti -aircraft guns, so the type may have an important if not brief claim to fame. The Mle 1936 was exported against supplying/replacing obsolete stock in the French Army because of the poor financial condition of the French economy in the 1930s.

    But somebody told me that this gun is more then thirty years here in Belgium.

    Looks strange that this gun was coming from Romania in full cold war to Belgium.

    We checked this gun for a second time and we found French manipulation advice on it.

    Maybe the French used this type also?

    A friend of mine found the answer this morning.

    It seems to be that it is a “canon de 105 L mle 1936 Schneider”

    A gun from French design used with France, Germany and Romania in WWII.

    The manual I have for the 17 pdr is more of a user manual than technical and does'nt offer much info into the gun,the 17 pdr is very similar to the 25 when it comes down to strip,quite simple.

    I may be able to take some close up pics of the sight mount for you if you wish.

    The majority of gun equipment fitted to the piece is the same as the 25 pdr such as tool and spares box,tools etc,I do have some spare wartime dated bill hooks and oil cans.

    what 2 pdr parts are you looking for ? I thought the land of OZ was full of 2 pdr's but it seems they are in demand every where you go !

    I have been collecting bits and bobs for the 2 pdr just incase I get lucky one day and find one.

  8. Transfer from another thread.

    This is my 17 pdr ,pics taken last year.

    It is now finished with its accessories,the sight assembly I have on it was removed from an Iraqi National guard 17 pdr that was used in the Gulf War.

    So it has travelled a very long way !

    Rob, really nice to see a complete 17 pounder!

    Most of them are missing the sight bracket.

     

    Friends of mine of the Belgian arty museum are restorating a 17 pounder.

    They have less information and ofcourse parts.

     

    Do you have notice of some manuals about the 17 pounder?

    Or some close up photos of the sight bracket?

  9. Hello Gents,

     

    This week I recovered my limber and I will start restoration next week.

    Seems in good shape only some vital missing parts.

     

     

    The doors and the linings to hold the doors in place when open are missing.

    If anybody knows where I can found them, that would be great.

    The tyres are also not correct, they are 10,5 x 12.

    Its a little bit a strange combination this gigantic wheels under this limber.

     

    Also the brake system is unknown to me butt I think this will not be a big problem.

     

    I will post here the rest of my restoration project and some more pictures.
