  1. Dear Sir.

Enjoying reading about your Militant renovation, I am making a KFS 1/24TH scale Milly, the instructions for the rear brake adjusters are rather vague, I was hoping that you might have had a photo/s of the rear of the rear hubs to show where the brake adjusters are positioned a the instructions don't show them in place, is it possible you might have a photo of the adjusters from behind to show me where they are positioned.

Is it Wynn who is reputed to have bought Diamond T's after seeing the skid marks they left on the road? There was a BBC radio programme about the company some years back.

I have heard that as well, they bought one direct from America, it never went into the Military service, they had 30 Diamond T's altogether, & Pickfords had 12

19 Coy was probably what later (1960s/70s) was 19 Sqn RCT. When I was in Tidworth I occasionally passed their main gate (in Bulford I believe), where they had a Diamond T as a gate guardian. The Squadron also used XlX (Roman 19) on their signs.

    Steve.

Believe Bulford Gate guardian is Old Joe.

  4. just another thing Mike could you get the trucks chassis number?

as there is a dt register and it would be nice to add the trucks info to it.

the number will begin with either 980..... or 981.....

if it is not on the info plate on the drivers side of the scuttle it will be stamped on the right hand chassis rail to the right of the front axle rear spring hanger, in big digits.

    regards sam

I was told of this DT some time ago, and I think there were only two Diamond T's in New Zealand, the person to contact with the plate info is Adrian mason who has an immaculate 980. I did have a copy of the Register not sure if I still have it or not. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

  5. Hello Guy,

This was the reason for my question about the tailgate locking mechanism and the cab door interior.

I am using your restoration blog to help with building this kit.

    cheers

Dear Sirs. I am about to build the sister kit to the one you were sent, I am making the Wireless / Radio truck, as you have found out there about 19 parts to the engine, which will I think (unless you know better than me) is a shame as an item in such detail is hidden under the grill and engine cover inside the cab, I am wondering how to display the engine in detail, any ideas I was thinking of having the grill off but this would just show the radiator, do any of you guys have any suggestions please, I need the info very soon as I am displaying this model at Gaydon model Truck show in June 2017 & have only 2 months to build the model. Looking forward to hearing from someone. Thanks in advance

Is there any chance some one can get me some good photos of the Miller Antar please, I am desperate for nearside, a full on door writing photo (for transfers), the rear of the ballast box,(if any writing then this should be full on for transfers) by the spare wheel, (a full on of the writing on the scuttle and bonnet, (for transfers) An engine photo as well as in the cab please, I have to get it just right for the Gaydon Model Truck Competition, I know that is in June but I need to order my transfers as soon as possible as my friend gets very busy making them for other people, so this is an urgent message please, I have got to the stage were I am ready for painting so it is very urgent I get these photos please, can any one put me intoch with the owner please. Sorry for the urgency but I have been trying everywere to get the infomation I need, I also need a photo or diagram of the front wheel where the track rod joins the rear of the hub, as I cant read the instructions on the model.

    Regards Dick Smith

  8. I presume you mean WHG 563V owned by Chris Miller, it seems to have been a little camera shy but it appears on pages 167 and 169 of Bob Tuck's book 'Move It' working on the Dinorwic project, unfortunately in b/w.

Check out post 289 on this thread.

I have emailed Bob Tuck and he has given me permission to use the photos in Trucks book of his, but unfortunatley its not the best of photos, I need photos of all around the vehicle and in colour.

    But thanks anyway.

  9. To all you Antar owners. I am making a 1/35th scale model of the Mighty Antar Mk3, which was owned by a Lancashire Heavy haulage firm, does anyone have any photos of this beast please, colour if possible which they would allow me to print off & use on modeling shows.

I also require a detailed photo or drawing of the front back plate which has the tie rod attached, the instructions are not that clear so cant make out exactly where it fixes on.

    Thanks in advance

    Dick Smith

  10. I.ve seen pictures of wynns Diamond T s and there heavy hauling antics but I must admit to being a bit chuffed with this one.

It shows ODW 937 heading a push-pull outfit form Tipton to Bradwell power station in 1957.

The lead T has the Nash and Morgan cab but the pusher looks pretty original.

The reason I,m chuffed is that this T was only 21 vehicles ahead of mine on the production line in Chicago and the picture is about

    200 m from my house.

    Small world, you might say

The pic is from a short film on you tube, called giant girder on the move.

Somewhere on Youtube there is a film of two Pickford's Diamond T's going at some speed over (I think) Vauxhall Bridge in London, with a trailer, I have looked for this film on there but can not find it any more, if any one has seen it can they tell me what the film is called, Thanks you in advance.

  11. Dear Adrian.

Would you provide space (tent) for models of Diamond T's, just as an add on, you have seen my collection, and as said I will be adding another set to the ones already made, could also bring my collection of Corgi T's not very big now, but have managed to get the House Move which I think was a bit scarse in the UK. I do know of other model makers who have made the T, if you can let me know on this I can contact them at Gaydon (june 13/14th) this yera, where my models will be on display, I expect also Graham Upchurch would display his collection, I can contact him as well.

Looking forward to seeing this page progress,

    Regards from

    Dick

  12. I have made 7 x 1.35th scale model Diamond T's so far and have another project on my hands, but I need good photos (side view & rear of vehicle) of Annis's of Hayes Middlesex original cabbed Diamond T, this is for my transfers, I will be displaying all 8 Diamond T's at the 75th Anniversary of the 980/981 Diamond T next year, three of these models will have Roger's trailers carrying loads.

    Thanks in advance.

  13. Thanks dizzy- t , I have just found another ex Murphy T in the same county but not RG Motors, bought for spares only, but assume these two were on one of the Hertfordshire motorway contracts ? Will upload some photos when we collect.

Not worth saving then?, would love a Diamond T sign off it if there is one to spare please,

  14. Any pictures Dick?

Sorry no, but you could try googling in Rush Green Motors and see what comes up, a freind of mine was after the old girl and had cleared a lot of the folliage away. as he was planning to buy it, but the price keeps going up, cant understand the owner, he wants to sell all the vehicle's most it rare, but then defies people to buy them, .

    Regards from

    Dick

PS. If your on Facebook then you can join my WW11.Diamond T all models group and I will get the guy who took the photos to re do them.

  15. Sorry nothing to do with this RL, but reqire photos of RL's think they might have been used out in Norway or some place similar need photos of these RLs in snowy conditions with the camaflaged, this is for a modeling project. Any one interested in RLs may not know that KFS (google it in) are producing a Bedford RL in 1/24th scale resin kit about June time.

  16. hi dizzy, thanks for your reply, if you go on flicker diamond t wreckers you will find two photos of watts of lydney diamond in colour, all the best ,tony g.

Thanks Tony, but could not find them on there, was going to send you a photo that I have that Watts sent to me, but could not find your emial address. I wish I had kept intouch with the chap who worked for the FTA and used to do all our trucks, he used

to drive the Gloucester Diamond T so would have been able to possibly have photos of his own, but have not seen him for 15 years or more

  17. hi dizzy, i hope i am not being pedantic but the cobberton diamond is not the watts of lydney one, the cab on the cobberton diamond is the civilian version with no cab vent and no vent on the scuttle, the watts cab is the military one. it is a long time since i have seen the cobberton diamond but i am sure it was a 980 and clearly the watts t is a 981, it also has a big air cleaner outside the bonnet probably a cummins engine, i know the cobberton diamond had an engine change but i cannot remember the type, it would be nice if the other watts diamonds photos came to light, all the best ,tony g.

Thank you for your reply Tony, I am only going on what Watts of Lydney told me. I only have one photo of I think The Lydney DT, but this is a black and white photo, if only I could remember how to put photos on here I would put my photo on.
