Thanks, hadn't thought of that!

Why on earth would the RAF need all that on a (flat) airfield? I can imagine the cost that the MOD was charged for them.
-
What about getting it done at a council depot? They aren't looking for work to add to your bill so you should get a fairer test.

In a different life, many years ago, we used to use their Avonmouth depot for any unusual seals. They would make something if they didn't have it on the shelf.

Does anyone know where we can get repair kit for the slew cylinder?
Barnwells. According to their site, they'll even be in Clevedon by the end of January

2 ton Tasker. Used by RAOC/RLC types amongst others. Almost impossible to reverse!

Maybe from something like an asphalt/tarmac batching plant. Easier, quicker and cheaper to just replace worn out tips of the mixer paddles

.......in any case you would not wish to use cheapo Italian brass.
I'm pretty sure Burnett & Hillman still supply Pirtek with adaptors.

Did mine in a Cat D6 dozer, easiest test ever.
Track forward, 90 right, 90 left, track forward then reverse the way you came.
Roller test was similar but slightly trickier as you had to stop between 2 cones.
Later had a refresh of the Track test in a Sultan on the A1, doing a circuit via Northallerton out of RAF Leeming.
Ours was under the old Severn Bridge. We used a Fiat Allis FL5B and a Hamm DV8.
Luckily we all passed before NAAFI break

Some kind of liquid going through two "filters" before hitting some litmus type paper at the bottom?

Would it be better if the photo is rotated 90 degrees to the left, ie vertical? Could it then be measuring something falling?

Have you considered a dictionary?
Fixed it for you

Also this site may help: http://www.anti-aircraft.co.uk/restoration_No3Mk2radar.html

I was told they were part of 5 Airmobile so as they had a more rapid response!
That may well be true, we were Engineer support to 5 Airborne.

As Richard said, just GS. We had 12KJ49 and 12KJ50 in the WKSP MT, used as runarounds for the stores section, or to ferry the ASM or OC some where. Great fun for a young spr, sitting in traffic and rocking from side to side as you revved the V8...
I have a memory that there was some mod done to the front brakes, but can't remember the exact details. The gearboxes didn't last long (LT85?) and you would often hear one whining it's way around camp.

How much of Chattenden is left Rob? I was Guard 2IC for a week at the DEODS(?) camp over Christmas "cough cough" 20 years ago while we were on our A1 at Brompton.

It would have been the MPF who wanted it all done properly. Plant ops are the "least keen" guys in the world when it comes to painting anything.
Me? I was happy enough to polish my spanners after 6 months in the mountains

From what I've seen and heard the quality and type of painting often depended on who was doing it and how much of a hurry they were in as well as facilities. I've seen MKs that went to the Gulf where everything - cab, body, tilt, glass, lights, tyres, the lot - had been sprayed with no attempt at masking, and then the overspray scraped off important areas!
At the end of our Op Grapple tour the planties had to spray all their plant for hand over.
First a jet wash to get the muck off, then mask all glass and other important areas with normal grease, spray the whole thing NATO green, then brush paint the one third bit black. Finish with another jet wash to clean the grease off the windows!

Just out of interest, how do re-enactors decide what rank they are going to be? Presumably they're not all the same?
