  1. Hi Chris, this is the box I stripped first gear from for my own Fox, first gear drum is there but cracked the pictures are on the Alvis site. It would be a good box for a rebuild as the case is complete and that is the hard bit to find. Looking for £200.

A lot cheaper than the £500 paid for it nine years ago. Speaking about the Alvis site have you seen my new project?.

    Cheers Stan

  2. I bought the pig from the garage in Insch. They apparently had made and fitted all the tin work for the owner, but there was some dispute over the cost and the pig ended up being left at the garage. It lay there for several years before I got it. I sold it in 1995 but I believe it is still in the Stonehaven area. If you need tyres, I still have a set of 1100 X 20 Dunlop Trakgrip runflats.

    Cheers Stan.

  3. Hi, here are a couple of pictures of my old pig. It was bought in 1990 from a local garage who tried to convert it in to a recovery vehicle. The roof was very roughly removed with a gas torch, and all bolted on armour also removed. The doors and roof were replaced with thin tin items. The first picture is it coming home to start restoration; the second one was taken three months later at its first rally. The missing pieces were replaced from parts removed from a scrap pig in Bradford. The registration plate in the first photo was from a1972 Ford cortina which the pig had somehow managed to acquire before I got it. If memory serves me well I think the army number was 26 BK 32.

  4. I need to find out unladen weight of an M35A2, the figures I have found so far varies between five and seven tons. I think I would properly go for a low slung plant type with the hydraulic suspension, that lowers them self flat to the deck for loading. much easer to load without ramps. I will print out several copes of the e-mail, pity it wasn't on headed note paper.

  5. Hi folks, thanks very much for all your help. this is the reply from the DVLA

    Thank you for your email.

If the vehicle is not being used for Hire or Reward, it would still be exempt from Excise Duty due to the age of the vehicle. In regards to the vehicle towing your scout car on a trailer, you should ensure it meets required Standards for towing.

I hope this information is of help to you.

  6.

Hi, I was thinking of getting a M35A2 and a trailer for carrying my Fox to rallies, would anybody know the legal standpoint on this. some reckon I could do it no problem, others say it would require plaiting and commercial roadfund and insurance. anyone up to speed with the law would require.

    Cheers Stan.

  7. Thanks for that everyone, the only one's I've found so far are vass with 1200x20, which i suppose are bedford MK one's. a local dealer can get Michellin's XL tyres for only £550. each. my Fox is on your site Chris, 01 GM 40.

    cheers Stan.
