Ignition junction box, C.A.V. No.1 Mk 2 W5868/21, FV141517, LV6MT4-2920-99-805-6273
Quite common. There is some coverage:
Amazing thank you!

That is a Rolls Royce B Range engine. The unit you show was fitted to all kinds of military vehicles, ie Ferret, Saracen, Leyland Martian, Humber FV1600, etc
try Richard Banister for parts 01797 253211
Brilliant so helpful thanks!

Dear Kyle,
Is the engine Rolls B60 or B80? If it is, it looks like a bog standard unit which should not be hard to acquire or repair. Clive will be able to tell you the correct resistance. There will already be threads on this forum about it.
It should be an easy problem to fix!
John
Thanks for your response! Yeah it’s a rolls b80!

I will sort it at the weekend for you. How is the restoration going? Your Mk5 used to be with us before Paul Hazell. I know the vehicle well. How much do you know about Mk5's?
Gareth
Thanks! Really appreciate it! Yeah really well, due to take it for a drive next month some time. I know absolutely nothing about mk5s at all! I own a F108 Dennis fire/crash tender also but obviously that’s a different beast.

Hi. I can give you probably all the pics you need. What do you require?
Ahh that’s brilliant! Pictures I’m lookimg for are:
-filler cap
-rear lights
-front mounted bell (close ups also if possible)
- detailed pics of the interior, seats, and switch gear mainly!
Thanks.
kyle.

I’m looking for a pair of these rear lights? Anyone know of anything similar or if they were used on another vehicle?
i also have just one of these, it came in the truck, I suspect it was going to be used on the rear but it doesn’t look like the ones in the top two pictures? Any info on these also?

Looks like an RAF Nubian fire tender and I have a feeling that the B80 engine is an early BSF one.
Yes you can renew the HT cables from within their shrouds, problem is the old cable tend to go gummy and stick a bit. Replace with copper core 7mm HT lead.
regards, Richard
So I should be able to remove the leads! That’s good to know! I’ll try harder haha! They’re well stuck! Thanks for the help 😀

No idea about the question, but what breed of Thorneycroft are you working on?
Wouldn't be an LMD trench digger by any chance?
Ahh that’s a shame!
It’s a thornycroft Nubian mk5 fire tender.

Hello!
does anyone have any tricks or tips when replacing/repairing military spec ignition leads?
Im currently restoring a thornycroft fitted with the Rolls-Royce b80.
This is what I have.

Does anyone know what the fuel filler cap looks like on a 1952 thornycroft Nubian mk5?
This is all I have.
This screws into the tank.
Cheers
kyle.
*edit* if anyone has any detailed pictures of a thornycroft Nubian mk5 it would help loads as I’m missing quite a few little bits and bobs.

If it's the same as a B81, think Marcus Glen has some in stock.
Ahh brilliant, I’ll try and find out if they’re the same.
Thanks for the help!

Saracen handbook states 16 litres, service schedule for Leyland Martian with B81 also states 16 litres.
Amazing thank you! I’m missing the dipstick from my b80!

Hello guys and girls, could anyone tell me how much oil a military spec Rolls-Royce b80 engine takes?
Thanks
kyle.
Some fun tonight! Rolls b80 dynamo inside.

Plunged head first into the charging system on my Nubian tonight!
If anyone has any info and or wiring diagrams it would be really appreciated!
Getting no charge at all from the dynamo, it appears that someone has been having a go at getting it working before and the wiring was all over the place so we decided to remove it all and bench test it.
would you say these brushes have had it? I’m very new to all this military stuff so I’m not sure how it should all look.
