Thanks for that info,
It looks like I will drop the whole set up and mounting plate in a oner, I’ll rig up some sort of jig which I can lift up with a Jack then lower it down to remove it, I presume it’s a heavy piece of kit when off 😬
On the control tube near the bottom, there is a square block fastened around it above the casting, do you know if this is removed the tube will split to allow the mounting plate to slide down?

Ok, good look with the M16 👍

Chris,
Is there any easy way to remove the motor🤔
Mine is standing on its legs so i am working upside down, 4 top bolts and 2 at the front from underneath, but! Those swivel castings that seems to fit to brackets either side if the motor, does it mean those gearboxes/diffs need to come off first?
Would be much easier if i could find a way of turning it over.

A working quad M45.
it was slow on the elevation so lifted it off the truck and set it on a frame die I could get under.
the only thing I did was disconnect the elevation coupling so I could manually move to check if binding
connected the coupling, the battery, switched onand I have nothing! No motor start. Tried the circuit breaker to no avail.
Anyone have any ideas on what I could check? I earthed it to the Meg terminal on the battery 😞

It’s a small world!

I’m from Kendal, my parents are still there and I now live in Lincolnshire.
So near and yet so far 😊

😬 will do 👍
where are you based? I’m in Cumbria

Disconnected the driven and there has to be drag somewhere, really hard to manually depress the guns, slightly better elevating them.
More investigating needed!

Good idea, will try that 👍

Ben,
Did you ever get your hot motor sorted?
I have a problem with the differential that works the elevation, it is so slow and draws 150 amps in operation, traverse is the full 60deg a second.

Cheers Ben that would be good 👍
-
Ben,
I bought some of those belts, a lot better fit than the ones I had, thanks for that.
elevation still incredibly poor, traverse is spot on! Thinking I might have to unbolt from the trailer and hoist it off to take a better look, do you know the measurements for the 3 legs? I’ll have to rig a stand up to set it on. 👍
-
Ben,
do you have a Code for the correct belts? I’m wondering if mine are too long, the differential bolts are at there max no I still have too much play on the belts?

Nice, did you notice any high current draw or overheating on the motor?
For the past 5months the motors been in and out trying to work out why it's pulling 150amps. Currently being rewound which hopefully will get to the bottom of it.
Hi, just checked my motor and it’s pulling 154 amps. What should it be?
did you get your issue sorted?

What generator have you on your Maxson, mine is a Tiny Tim L123 12v output one which I am not sure is correct?
-
No nothing untoward, I guess I was lucky with this one 😬
good luck with yours 👍
-
Yes I’ve ran it of a 12v battery, need to finish restoring the Tiny Tim genny to get everything working 😅
-
Hi, thanks for that info it does help.
I was looking to put two 6v ones in but after your experience I might try the bigger 165AH batteries which should just fit the tray.
I suppose a large 12v is a possibility also?
cheers

Hi,
Can anyone inform me of the type of batteries required to power a Maxson 45 quad?

I have a Matchless G3WO with an unusual frame number, WD1001
could this be a frame used from a spares depot on a military rebuild?

Thanks for that, don’t like dismantling thing unnecessarily! Some times that can create more problems 😅👍
