  1. Hello!

I'm one of the volunteers at the Dig For Victory Show down in Somerset. We're currently looking for both military and civilian vehicles to come along to our show!

The focus of the event is Britain in the 1940’s and so we accept a wide range of period vehicles to make the scene complete. Although the event is focused on WWII there is a Timeline dedicated to the display of civilian and military post- war vehicles.

If you fancy coming and bringing a vehicle, please follow this link and fill in the form:

    Here's a video of the 2015 event:

It's a nice day out and plenty to see and do including military vehicle demonstrations (seeing a sherman tank powerslide was a personal highlight), music and dancing, talks, loads of displays, and shops too.

If you have any questions about it then drop me a line!

  2. awhile ago i am sure i saw jolley of electric ignition fame selling one. and not so long ago there was the wreck in the field under corrugated iron ebay i think

Haven't been able to decipher the number yet but Richard reckons it might be a prototype due to the towing eyes on the front being in different positions, wading screen still fitted and 00 number.

It's engine-less and for sale (open to offers, looking for about £1.5k for it).

  3. This surely marks the difference between 'restoration' and 'preservation'?

There are plenty of vehicles, steam locomotives etc that are in a preserved but not running state, as to restore it would essentially destroy the item.

  4. we had a very wet show but still enjoyed it, I took the Cromwell out 2 or 3 times a day as did john in the valentine but we were pretty much on our own tanks wise. I did see a Sherman once and a t34 in the arena but it was before the public came and It was only one time !

the pepper pot grant was there also but didn't go out much due to a loose nut on the tillers. there was a nice cent avre that went in a couple of times but it was a fresh resto and needed more running in time. it was good to see the 2 Achilles together rex's and Adrian's but other than those I have just mentioned there was a distinct lack of tanks. maybe next year !

Earlier on I was recounting to the Mrs. how as we were getting ready for Sunday's battle, the re-enactors huddled around the back of the Cromwell for warmth got a bit of a fright when it revved up!

  5. >:(the worst nightmare for any MV owner!

now I understand the other thread with the request for an F60 chassis. I think the best idea I have at the moment would be to mate the front end of an F60S LAAT chassis to the rear of the F60L wrecker. The front end to the transfer case should be the same for both. Chassis rails on the F60L are "double" if I am correct, making mating frame rails less difficult(?).

I don't now of any spare F60L chassis available, but it wouldn't hurt asking LWDParts and Staman trading.

    Alex

    (off topic)

    Thanks Alex.

That was more or less our original plan, but sadly upon further investigation we found that the impact was so hard it's twisted the entire chassis, one side has moved back about 4-6 inches even as far as the back axle, so the whole lot needs sorting out.
