1. Repainting my airportable and need a set of the yellow body strips with the Royal Air Force on them. Anyone put me in touch or point me in the right direction to get some?

  2. No. But it does begine with a "S". They are all running and apart from 1 where drivable. they all have the cummins powerpacks in. I managed to get some spares for mine but could not get the powerpacks out.

  3. The CVRTs are Spartans fitted with Milan Compact Turret (MCT) - they will have been used out at BATUS as OPFOR vehicles. Looks like they have been dieselised too. What is the plan for them, hard targets?

    Chris

No not the name on the instruction manual.

  4. Found the plinth it was on but cound not find any other tanks on the camp. Did find a couple of samaritans round the back waiting to go out on the range but thats was all I had time to photograph. too busy working.

  5. Was down at Castlemartin in January and tool a few photos durring my time there. Thought some might be of interest. Just to check does anyone know what the CVRT's are? 8723143590_69df508040_z.jpg

  6. When I was at RAF Brawdy back in 1979 with Had 3 as target tugs. Could have got a flight but at the tiem spent all my effort trying to get a flight in the hunter and failing! If I had the chance again would jump at the chance!

  7. Glad to see this getting so close to flight. Would love to see a fighter and bomber variant fly. Think this would have been better value for money to get another mosquito flying in GB rather than the Vulcan, though do love to see the Vulcan flying. Can't we get one flying. Where will it end up?

  8. Have just started to repaint the BARV again. I have always used MOD paint on all my vehicles and found it only last at most about 2 years before it fades tomuch or starts to peal off. I have also tried to keep to MOD paint techniques so not to have a vehicle which looks more than it would have in service but would like to know what paints others have used to restore there pride and joy. I plan to repaint teh Sabre this year and was told to try and use a satin finish paint as it last longer. What have others done and how effect have your efforts been? :cool2:

  9. Tony, Any EX Soldier worth his Salt & having done 'Some Time' in the Mob. Would be able to spot an Ex Serving Member VERY quickly! There IS a Correct way to wear & 'Carry' yourself in Deportment when in uniform. I will not go into detail here as there may well be some 'Wannabes' who would act on this information. :D ANY Ex Squaddie who reads this WILL, Im SURE, concur with my comments?......

Spot on, you can always tell those that have been in the mob.

  10. When I was in the RAF the SWO had a Great coat and when I asked if I could use mine , the answer I got was that any issue uniform used by the RAF so long as in good presentable condition could still be used so long as the correct insignia was used was not a problem but not on parades. I remeber times when the RAF went from battle dress to the jumpers and lighter trousers that this was not done over night but over a few years. I stil have my Brass Queens crown cap badge which was not issue but could be bought and used same as the SD caps.

My point is more long the lines as what uniform is used in the past can still be used in the right condition. I have seen the QCS in WW2 Battle dress and No 4 rifles doing there drill. with the other half using the current issue No1's

For me I have no problem with the use of uniform but like has been said dont understand tose ging themselves para wings who have'nt the right to wear them. bt if peopel are clear that its to respresent then was is the problem.

  11. Need to get some new plugs for the Centurion and have been told that there is only 1 choice for the plugs. Am I correct that I need RSL 10's or if not which ones do I need and also are there any others which can be used. The ones in at present have trouble with oiling up after onlyu a few runs. now I know there is more than 1 reason for this but thought I would start with plugs options. :cool2:
