  1. Marty, Thanks for that - gives me a good idea where it served. Steve
  2. Good pieces of kit, mine that I bought for £150 has saved me a fortune in skips, tow it behind my discovery with a trailer board and a nato hitch on a sliding plate. Tony's right - puts Halfords puny little trailers in their place! Steve
  3. Box's are still there however seem to be the early type (Larkspur) which does not go with the year 1983, should have the wing flaps from what I understand. All the radio wiring is still there and in very good condition. From looking at the L/R it would also seem that it was never or very rarely used as an FFR, more like a DS runabout. I would like to find out exactly what it was used for whilst at the School of Infantry however I doubt there would be anyone there that would remember seeing its getting on for 10 years. Steve
  4. Marty, Can you tell me what this means - came from a plate on the generator of my WC54 - OVERHALT VED HVK VERKSTED/DKT Also from engine rebuild plate: HERENS VAPENTEKNISKE KORPS Any luck on the info from the forum re my WC54's previous service as a radiovan. Regards Steve
  5. Mick, at the moment thats all that does look alright - not quite true panels are straight except for front wing. Found out today from the RLC museum that she did spend all her service at the school of infantry so she has had a bit of a rough time! Steve
  6. Here is a picture of my more recent purchase which stood in a field for 5 years. Currently I am stripping it down so that the rear body can come off to sort out the rotten rear chassis and the to rectify the clutch/gearbox fault it apparently has. Looked at the EMLRA website and found a picture of her parked at the TMP in Warminster in the early 90's, looked pretty rough even then, typical of a TMP vehicle. Steve
  7. Tony, you are right of course however it is the cost - I bought the old girl as a project over the winter and really did not want to invest that sort of money when I have the Dodge and the Jeep to keep on the road. I have tried to get a half chassis but these have disappeared off the market. Not sure what I should do? Steve
  8. Hi Andy, Thanks for that - yes probably makes sense to get a scrapper and take all the bits. However having had a good look at the FFR with my mate I have got more to worry about - it needs a new rear 1/4 chassis as the original is rotten through. Steve
  9. Sorry - seems I was in my own little world assuming everyone knew what I was talking about - yes it is my newly aquired 1983 Landover series III FFR ex School of Infantry Warminster that I meant. I agree to convert it would lose some of its originality so will probably leave it alone, only wanted to guage opinion as in my group of mates all either serving or ex REME there are suggestions that for ease it would be better to convert to 12v. This is all based on my personal and their experiences on working on L/R FFR's especially electrical faults. At least leaving out the L/R bit provoked some interesting responses. Steve
  10. I have seen plenty written about doing this to a FFR but has anyone actually done it and what are the pitfalls - not decided myself as I wanted to pull a caravan to shows in the future however now I have seen a gadget that provides 12v I am not so fussed. Steve
  11. Just recently moved to Loose near Maidstone, Kent, anyone near or far more than welcome to pop round for a beer or cuppa. Steve
  12. Don't worry looked at an old copy of MVT Windscreen found out that markings relate to School of Infantry now Warminster Training Centre. Looks like she was with them for all her service. Steve
  13. Marty, Thanks for doing that - will look forward to any info it brings in. Steve
  14. Can anyone tell me what unit used the district marking SW/74 in addition there was also on the rear offside panel WTC 107. My Landrover 109 FFR arrived today with reg 62 KB 98 in a bit of a sorry state having spent the last 5 -6 years in a field in Worcestershire. Any help would be appreciated. Steve
  15. I am looking at the history of my Dodge WC54 and seeing it spent nearly 40 odd years in Norway I need a photo of an ambulance converted to a radiovan preferbly one that was in service. If I remember rightly my vehicle when in service was numbered 288 21 if I can get a picture that would be great. Someone in Norway must have them? Steve
