  1. Does anyone have a contact for David Dunne, as I would like to ask him about the Lancia data.
  2. Does anyone know where I might find information on when and how many Lancia trucks the British Army acquired in WW1. I gather that Fiat supplied chassis direct to the British Army and I'd like to find out the details of any orders for Lancia trucks. There seem to have many of these available after WW1 in the UK as Army surplus. Duxford? Tank Museum? Imperial War Museum? National Archives? A branch of the British Army? Any leads welcome. 3. Thank you all for your replies. I'm aiming to find out total number of Lancia commercial chassis that were in Ireland/Ulster and that were available later for sale and subsequent use. I'd also like to know where they came from via British Army.. It would seem the information is there. I'll wait until I've Dunne's book and studied it. I had found the British Pathe clip - fascinating.
  4. Thank you for the recommendation - ordered straight away. I had seen reference to it. Do you have an opinion on the other book I've sent referred to: Martin, Karl (2002). Irish Army Vehicles, transport and armour since 1922. Karl Martin. ISBN 0-9543413-0-9. It seems to be unobtainable now Paul
  5. Does anyone know the chassis number (it is on the brass plate on the bulkhead) of the RUC vehicle, and confirm its registration number? In my growing register of these Lancias I have the following so far. There will be more to add Paul Mayo Lancia Trijota ? UK: OI 6939 Belfast Registration Barton Fleet No. 087 26-seater front-entrance body Lancia Trijota ? UK: OI 6975 Belfast Registration Barton Fleet No. 079 26-seater front-entrance body Lancia Trijota ? UK: OI 6985 Belfast Registration Barton Fleet No. 081 24-seater body Lancia Trijota ? UK: OI 6990 Belfast Registration Barton Fleet No. 083 26-seater body, chassis rebuilt before going into service. Lancia Trijota 0166 UK: OI 1391 1918 armoured car, 1st UK registered May 1923 See Truck Magazine, December 1981, p.33: For sale a fully restored 1921 Triota lorry for £11,500 ex. VAT from Ollerton Engineering Ltd, Samlesbury Bottoms, Preston, Lancashire
  6. I've arrived at this site as I am researching the Lancia commercials used in the UK in the 1920s and 30s. I realise now that many of the buses that were used were based on ex-military chassis bought from Ulster and from the Republic. This site came up and there is some very informatsive stuff here , which I'm going to get my head round. Does anyone know if there are detailed military or RUC records of the individual Lancia vehicles which the British brought back from WW1 and then ended up in Ireland/Ulster? I'd like chassis and registration number ideally. Thanks
