  1. Here's the converted control box. Not much to look at inside but hopefully the end to my charging issues!!
  2. Really?? I Wonder why he thought it would be Positive earth? Oh well, even better. Thanks.
  3. Hi Mike, You are correct!! John Mortor does them £105 plus the old unit in exchange. Only difference is that it needs to be wired Negative earth. From the outside they are original CAV's, but have modern internals. Perfect solution.....thanks for the heads up. Cheers Richard
  4. Hi Mike, Well that would be perfect if it's the same. I will give him a call today. Thank you very much for the heads up!! Cheers Richard
  5. Thanks Nick, that certainly looks like a really good possibility? May even fit inside the housing of the original CAV control box? Does anyone know the exact make and model of an MW dynamo? I believe mines an original. Thanks Richard.
  6. Hi guys Struggling to find a replacement for my faulty CAV control box so have been looking at the possibility of fitting a Dynamator. Has anyone done this on an MW or similar or does anyone have any thoughts on it? Thanks Richard
  7. Hi all, I desperately need some measurements of the triple hoop bracket / guide that fits to the front body of the MW. I know the two hoops are just over an inch in diameter but need to know the size of the square section. If anyone has any old ones for sale i would be very interested, Thanks Richard
  8. Thanks both....so if in order 3/8" Whitworth will they be correct?
  9. Anyone know the thread size of the studs on an MW exhaust Manifold please??
  10. Also, what's the exact model type of the box i'm looking for?
  11. Ok, i will check the fuse holder and points, thanks. Incidently, i did notice that if i briefly push the contacts together manually i got a discharge on the gauge. Is that normal? What size fuse should be in the control box as i current just have a piece of fuse wire. Thanks Richard
  12. My MW developed a "ticking" noise today which seemed to be coming from the gearbox area. Nothing at very slow speed then load ticking noise as speed builds up. Ticking gets faster with speed and stops when I clutch in. Any ideas please?
  13. Luke, I've not forgotten you. Had problems with my MW today and the time just run away!! I'm sure I've got a wiring diagram (albeit homemade) amongst my paperwork somewhere so will have a look this week mate.
  14. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions chaps. It IS a Dynamo and Control box set up.....just my rubbish description!! I did some basic checks today using a tester and have charge coming out of the Dynamo but nothing getting too the battery so it does point to a fault in the control box as you suggested Richard. Are these repairable or is it a case of replacing?
  15. Ok, last year I had no charge in in my MW. Has new wiring loom and had alternator apart and checked brushes etc. During a long journey it kicked into life again and was then ok until I got it out again today. Wiring all checked and nothing loose. Need to know what else to check please. Thanks.
  16. Hi Luke, Mines converted to electric and i rewired the whole truck a few years back. I cannot recall the wiring diagram but getting my MW out of storage for the weekend this weekend so if you don't get any joy between now and then i can certainly draw the wiring circuit for you. It's a very simple circuit from memory. Cheers Richard
  17. Thanks for that Mike. I've ordered a kit from ebay so hopefully should be the correct size etc. Cheers Richard
  18. Hi, My A&R pipe worked loose and melted on the Manifold at the end of last season, so i need a replacement. I have found the same thing on ebay for a classic Mini. My question is are these pretty much a standard fitting or do i need to find a specific one? Also, for my knowledge....what does it actually do? Thanks Richard
  19. Thanks for the feedback and info. I would not describe it as a Bivouac type tent as it sits too high (approx 5ft). Its very similar in design/size of the British Officers 2 man tent of the type now made by Soldier Of Fortune, but with much lower side walls and the addition of the Flyscreens. I will purchase some poles and set it up, then take some photos. Hopefully i may find some markings although nothing obvious so far. Richard
  20. Thanks guys. The mesh is quite fine...i was surprised that it was still intact and undamaged.. I read somewhere else that it's rare to find the nets still attached as they were often removed post war. Clive, do you have dates for the two types you have liisted? Thanks Richard
  21. Found one of these at Stoneleigh yesterday. Same size / material / construction as standard British Army 2 man text but has fitted Mosquito nets both ends. Any ideas please? ]
  22. Looking for recommendations for a house or cottage that will sleep 6 to rent in Normandy for our 2016 visit. Always camped previous years but weather has never been that great! Any help appreciated. Thanks Richard

    Canvas Bag ID?

Hi Tim, Just googled it and i think your spot on! Thanks Richard
  24. Another of this weekends finds at my local dump. Any ideas? Interesting in that it has a small opening that would have been laced together i assume, which is then covered with a flap. Newney press studs but no other markings that i can see. Any ideas?
  25. Found at my local tip this weekend. 39 dated canvas (quite thin). Unfortunatley it's been cut into several pieces so i don't have its original size. Any ideas?
