  1. The photo is from about 4 years ago. It turns out it might be under restoration somewhere, according to the text on this Flickr page:

Mersey Tunnel Joint Commitee Leyland Beaver

I recovered a good few from the Tunnel hard standing after they'd been hauled out, from the mid 70s to the 90s and I certainly never clapped eyes on that one. It might well have been brought out of their collection, resprayed for the parade in 1994, then handed over to Merseyside museums after and then possibly stored by them in the open, hence the condition. So it might turn up yet.

I know the museum has this Douglas stored somewhere.

  2. Yes Pat, it is a Badger with an alternative radiator. The logo on the rad belongs to Liverpool City Passenger Transport.

Thanks Mike. I couldn't get the picture any bigger to read the badge but guessed it might be that. It does have a made-up-from-bits look about it.

  3. This was used to pull vehicles out of the Mersey Tunnel and stood at the Liverpool end for many years. Photographed in the 50s or 60s I'm guessing. It looks like it was made up by either the city engineers department or the corporation passenger transport workshops in Edge Lane, who did actually turn out some very sleek vehicles based on old bus chassis. I wonder if it survived anywhere?
