Have you ever been in the situation when you have sold something in the past and wished you hadn't !
Well I did such a thing 5 years ago ,I was trying the generate some cash for a new project and decided to part with my Canadian quad polsten which a friend of mine had been nagging me to sell him for quite some time.
A deal was struck and off he went with the gun. Six months past and thought set in that maybe I shouldn't have let it go.
I originaly bought My gun from Trident arms of Nottingham in 1997 which was part of the large batch of 50 Bofors guns and about 15 Polstens that came in from Portugal and I more or less had pick of the batch.
At the time these polstens were a bit of an unknown gun and there was very little evidence of there history.
I got the gun home and got stuck into the restoration and returned it to full running and operating condition.
I was suprised to receive a phone call last Sunday to ask if I would be interested in taking the gun back and with no hesitation I replied 'Yes', so I went down today to pick it up and get it back home.
It has deteriorated some what, so it will have to spend some time in the workshop for a strip down and repaint but hey ! its back where it belongs.
Just to top it off,I fired it up this afternoon and it blew a hydraulic hose F#*#*#G OIL EVERYWHERE.:embarrassed:

I have been asked to find owners of WW2 British vehicles who would be interested in doing some film work in Liverpool around April time. If this of any interest please PM me (with pictures of your vehicles if possible) for further details.
Thanks

I had a great show, just a shame I was so busy talking to people that I hardly got chance to see any of it. I'd also like to apologise to anyone that got held up behind the Cromwell while we loaded it onto the trailer on sunday but 15 mins wasn't too bad and at least we didn't get stuck.
rick
Thats because you had a proper haulage company and driver to take the Cromwell Rick. I did three round trips from Lancashire and apart from the main entrance being a problem, which could have been sorted with a little extra tempary track, I did'nt find it too bad.

Anyone here know much about them, fixing them, and finding parts for them?

Out of interest was that the one on ebay a few weeks ago.

We were lucky the "Spider sight came with ours, but I understand they are in short supply.
We have the eight round mags and over the years have found about 50 odd 20mm cases.
Picked up a really nice orginal Canadian wooded ammo box at W&P R last year.
I've managed to get some drum magazines L&R handed from World Wide Arms in boxes, but stll looking for sights. If I cant find any I will try and get some made. The good news is that I've got the engine running and all the hudraulics are working although there is a small leak from a couple of pipes but the shoudn't be hard to fix. Next job is a clean up and paint. I'm hoping to have it all done for The Yorkshire Wartime Experiance show in July. Should make an intersting exhibit.

Thanks Craig,
Will do as soon as in the area, never pass on a brew !
Best regards John
Spoke to a mechanic at Lancs Daf this morning; I was right it was a light gray material, a bit like felt with a hardish foam backing, but that was on the Roadtrains. I would have thought yours would have been the same john. Is your a full sleeper cab or the smaller rest cab? I can't remember.

The first of the military vehicle forms have arrived. Vehicles booked in so far include :
M4 High Speed Tractor
M36 Jackson Tank Destroyer
Bedford MWD 1944
Morris Tilly 1940
Dodge Command Car WC56 1942
Ford Jeep 1943
You had better add Polsten Quad to that lot; got it going this morning. Got a bit of an hydraulic oil leak but nothing we cant sort.

Does anyone know what the headlining material is like in the cab, it was completely missing in mine when I bought it, the thick polystyrene insulator is in place but all the material has been ripped of not leaving one tiny piece as a sample.
Hi John,
I think it was the same as the Leyland Roadtrain, if I remember right it is a lightish grey colour. I'll see if I can get some info from Lancs Daf. Call down if your passing and have a look at my new toy and I'll get the kettle on.

It looks the same as a jeep diaphragm, see if you can get a kit from one of the jeep spares dealers
Hi Richard,
Thanks for that, I think I've found one on Ebay. If its not the right one I'll try Jeep bits. It looks like there may be a wiring problem, had a bit of smoke coming from the switch box when we connected the battery so next job is to trace if there is a bare wire shorting out. Could do with a wiring diagram if you know where I could got one?

Hi Rob,
I've got the large sight bar but not the sights that fit on to it. If youv'e got the sights I'd have them off you, but thanks for the offer.

Hi All, new to this forum thing so just a bit about me. I have several British military vehicles some modern but I am looking to build up a collection of more ww2 British vehicles. I own Hindle Transport of Bolton and as some of you know we specialize in moving military vehicles (www.hindletransport.co.uk). I have a Bedford QL, OY, Leyland Hippo, Fox and a Can-am Bomdardier, but I am looking to sell/swap/PX the FOX & Hippo for ww2 British trucks. I could be interested in setting a static living history display if anyone is interested but not into running around a field with a gun. Done that when I was in the Army 30 years ago.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
