  3. Hi,

I have this still crated NOS ex RAF cylinder head but have no idea what's it for! It was destined for Malta as it says so on the crate.

    Any ideas?

    The lettering/numbers on it are:

    MC20612

    500440

    11 5 Z

Size wise is approximately the same size as a Land Rover 2 1/4 cylinder head.

Any help with identifying this will be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Kaci

  4. Click on "Reply with quote", bottom right!

I don't have a clear photo but I've seen one on the net somewhere. I'll keep looking.

Doh! How come I didn't see that!!!

Send it over when you find it.

Meanwhile I will try and decipher the one in the next reply....it looks funny to me though as as far as I know there isn't three "dots" in the language....might be mistaken though!

  5. "The Arabic numbers are the same, in my case 14747, but they read from left to right. I know Arabic script reads R-L but these numbers certainly don't. Does anybody know what the Arabic script says under the number?"

You are right there Ive...the Arabic numbers here are being read from left to right...strange!

Send me a clear pic of the number plate showing the Arabic script and I will try and translate it for you. I did study Arabic for five years when at school:-)

P.S. How do you insert a quote here???

  6. A job well done Ivor....I wished to join in the celebrations, but since only beer was around...well I had to opt out as I don't like beer!!! Hehehe!

Hope it is liked with the museum visitors as it is by us here!

    Cheers,

  7. Nice work Ivor...wish I was there to help you out.

Glad you enjoyed our rendezvous while here in Malta...I'm sure you would never have imagined that you would see such lovely sights here!! Hehehe.

BTW I am still waiting for Joe to give me a reply about that tail lamp you need...he said he might have one! Fingers crossed mate...you saw his stock so one can never know what can be unearthed from inside his treasure trove!!!

    Cheers,

  8. Hi Ivor,

I am just hoping that when you come over you would get me a copy of this manual...you know I'd love to have it!!!

Talking of which, I have lately discovered that I have a copy of an Army User Handbook for the Land Rover 80". It is WO Code No 17856/3; Aip Publication 4337D (U.H.) Admiralty MTP. 4303/2 and covers Rover Mk1, Mk2, Mk3, Mk4 & Mk5 and dated 1957.

I also have a few technical publications on CD which all concern the Willys/Ford jeeps.

    Cheers,

    Kaci

  9. The K6 and C15a are not more than 10 minutes away from where I live. I also go there often enough to buy iron profiles...angles, box etc...! It is a pity that they are left to rot there after being salvaged from another place a few years ago. The owners are not into old trucks....much more into dragsters!!!

The old Tilly is of a good friend of mine Clive Micallef and it is one from his fleet of army vehicles he has all nicely restored!
