  1. The Collection I work for has the following:

M76 Otter (1953) - the only one in Europe and I believe there are around ten working examples in the world.

Aquatrack (1991) - only four prototypes every made. We have the original, the security service in the Philippines have two and a salvage company in Ireland have the other one.

    Markheliops

I thought the first one services St Michaels Mount in Cornwall, the Mk2 is now blue and a few pix on here, and 2 went to the Phillipines, did GKN build one too? I would be interested in the one in the salvage yard if there is any information?

  2. Just like the real thing! :-D

oh yes, we tried to make it as characterful as the original, unfortunately we messed up on the panel gaps and had them consistent :D

I do remember we initially forgot about the fitting of the fuel sender unit and had to modify the chassis. The chassis was box section and done on a jig using a 110 chassis for all the pick up points. So this again would have been different from the base vehicle as all the chassis would have been the same too.

  3. I will need to check, I take this is the plate on the offside dash?

All of ours are Merc engine and 4wd...

Jeez, I think the plate was fitted there, sometimes in the drivers seat box. Was an anodised plate with number stamped on them, sometimes badly. Really old ones had cast plates and then stamped up. I think they had the SG number, the engine and chassis, and if more than one on a contract a slash for number, like SG119/8.

SG119 and 121 were Perkins 180Ti They are the IEDD wagons.

SG109 and 096 were the demo and fwd control ones.

The white bonneted ones for AWE were the only RWD only ones that were made, 4 in total, these had an uprated engine I remember and the preselect gearbox.

I wish I still had the record book that had all the chassis numbers and engine numbers etc. All recorded, weighed before and after build, memory often plays tricks now

what colours are the ones you have? Do they have the vacuum formed plastic panels in the rear?

  4. Whats the 9th picture Station Wagon based on?

Based on a land rover 110. Chassis made by gwl. Fibre glass panels by johbn Walter construction. Running gear LR 110. Was Hornet 2. Had an interesting roof feature. It came off after a while as it was bonded on under stress.

    1. [*]

It could be Alvis or Glover Webb, but either way its a Tatica... normally running Merc engines... we have 9 of them but with more gun ports along the side... (3 from memory) all left hand drive.... pukka bits of kit....

what are the SG numbers from the ID plates please?

Some Tactica ran mercs, a lot were Perkins.

The AWE ones were preselect auto gearboxes RWD only. only 4 ever made.

  5. Found out a bit more. Its offical name is BLACKBOARD. Used in N.I. was remote controlled from backpack by fibre optic cable, this was not very reliable when fibre optic was damaged the vehicle went off on its own,not a good idea. 2 speeds forward 1 reverse. No info on internet that I can find, but still searching

mountney steering wheel and damn uncomfortable to drive manually.

  6. These units were built by Glover Webb back in the 90's.

I’m pretty sure they were procured by the Army so that the Wheel barrow and associated equipment could be helicopter transportable but still be mobile once deployed.

It's a BLACKBOARD, hydraulic powered. Made from the same tube as the McLaren F1 road car.

FO controlled to if needs be,

  7. Hi peeps. Newly registered today so be nice.

I'm an engineer living in South Hampshire that has been involved with many AFV, AVs, specialised vehicles, etc. in the past working for Marshall SV, Glover Webb, and another you probably won't have heard of.;)

I will contribute when I can inbetween other things and I will try to play nice too.

    Mac.

PS. Interested in vehicles per-se but more so motorcycles, and of course AFVs etc. especially the ones I have been involved with.

  8. Used mostly by E.O.D units in N.I. By the looks of it, most of the armour has been removed.

the hard armour is still there, the whole thing is made of it, what is missing is the outer skin and probably the composite insides too.

Was this one SG119 or 121 on the nameplate?
