  1. Must be without cracks or splits (as good as new).

My Chieftain is on its way to Australia (it is very strict entry conditions) for AFVs.

My existing Road wheels / track pads are perfectly serviceable here for the UK, just not acceptable for entry into Australia, containing concealed earth and dirt!!

    Please call me, Txt me

  2. Well my Stalwart arrives Thursday.

Actually my 2 stalwarts arrive Thursday.

One seems fairly complete swimmer, road registered with a clansman radio installed. The other is a rusty non runner and supplied for spares.

the FFR will need commissioning as it has been LGS for several years and has a broken tracta joint as one rear station is not in line with the others. It is dry inside the load cover has worked well and starts on the button.

    hope I don't regret it....

Hi there if you embrace the discipline of reversing 2 vehicle lengths after you have been driving on the road you will preserve the rest of your tracta joints and bevel gears.

You will save yourself a lot of anguish and money.

    Good luck Adrian T

  3. Welcome aboard - FV430s are quite enough for me at the moment but I'd love a Chieftain later on.

I can't see the pics either, it just says invalid attachment. :-(

    Hi Andy

I quite like the 434s I once saw one with a Doser blade fitted and remember thinking what a brilliant piece of kit.

The other thing with 430s I always felt that they could be 2 road wheel longer in APC form or utility flat bed.

  4. Adrian,

your certifiable but my hat comes off to you for having the gonads to own one.

I do have to say the throaty roar of a Chieftain is such a wonderful non tactical sound!

You attachments wont open for me

    Robin

Hi Robin I have tried again to sort out the attachment pics, the process is telling me my pics are too large??

Owning a Chieftain was never going to be problem for me its all about opportunity and attitude. The difficulties arise with having sufficient facility, I have been unlucky in one repspect but very lucky in another. At this moment in time my Chieftain is parked in Fabrication Factory disused loading bay, I am so endebted to the owner of the business to allow me the priveledge to park up in his factory. Earlier I was renting a perfect unit complete with 5 ton overhead crane, and then the local authority got involved demanding I pay full business rates £9500 PA when I wasnt operating a business of any description - as in their words I was occupying the building ?????? so I had to leave sharpish end of June this year. So I am where I am with the impediment that I cant work when I want too, I can only work when the factory is working which is so frustrating.

    Hi Andy

She is 98% complete and working, mind you she is a stubborn "so n so" Ive had to take a bigger hammer to her to make her do as she is told! She still bit me back!

    Hi Chris

This is my first night and first ever forum of any kind of web site.

I am trying to learn how this forum stuff works, all the different pages etc

If you have the No40 Periscopes I will be speechless!:-)

So far I have managed to get a working Commanders Seat, A working BV, The main power cable for the Metadyne Units that power the stabliser for the turret and gun, most of the track maintenance tools, and a raft of different manuals.

The Tank is 98% complete and working, I have got to save hard to get her Blasted and Re-primed / Painted and the Zimmerit anti slip paste applied.

  9. Hi everyone my name is Adrian, I am almost 56 years old (well, in two weeks or so).

I am the very proud owner of a Mk5 Chieftain Tank that I rescued from certain death in April this year.

I am an Ex AFV Commander, EX 9/12 Lancers (11years). I always said I would own my very own Chieftain Tank! Ive done it.

Well Im on here to make and meet new like minded friends and contacts.

I am looking for some parts mainly glassware for the Cupola as follows:-

    9 x Periscopes AV No 40 Mk2,

    1 x Periscope Gunner AV No 59 Mk1 or AV No 1 Mk1,

    1 x Periscope Driver AV No 36 Mk1

1x Periscope Loader “Head Assembly” No30.

1 x Commanders Spot light (complete with yoke).

1 x Headlight sealed beam unit.

If anyone can help me with these parts (were cooking on gas)!!!!!

So please folks spread the word.

    Adrian
