  1. It's worthwanythinginting out that while these devices may defeat the average local yobbo, they're useless against a professional thief stealing to order. GPS jammers were around a tenner last time I looked.

  2. Back in the late 70s in the 6 weeks school holidays me & mate use to get a red bus rover,,, which was a 25p ticket that you could travel anywhere on a red bus,,( london transport) ,,,there was a route that would take us past that place,,, I remember it was down a big dip in the ground,, which you could get a good veiw from the top deck of an old R/T or route master, ,,, one day we stoped there to have a poke about, ,, my dad had a jeep at the time & the place was amazing, ,,,I remember plenty of vehicles there including some tanks,,,

Thanks for posting as reading this bought back some good memories,,,

  6. Can anyone shed some light on the seats canvas tilt / colours / material used on jeeps that were used by the U.S.N in WW2, theres plenty of pics online with the standard khaki & some with grey or even blue,.,were these jeeps used by the navy trimmed out differently to the standard wartime MB"s & GPW"s,.if so why????,.,,,.,.also code letter colours,.am I correct in thinking olive drab jeeps had yellow markings while grey/light blue had black? ,.anyway any views.,unusual pics, ect id love to see,.,.,.cheers,

  7. looking good steve.,.,any idear what markings it will wear.,.,heres my ratty mb.,was never into the factory fresh look,.im running the larger 700 16,.,.its also now got 352 FG on the bumpers,....did all army airforce jeeps have painted rear bumperetts & white tips in the front.,,.as im sure ive seen some in pics without that.,,.? i might be wrong.,.,.ive also added on the dash,.

  8. I do hope you didn't underpay for it - we do have our British eccentricities to maintain :D

If I can offer just one piece of advice - now forget all about what you paid for it, you're committed now :-)

Oh, and may the long road ahead be blessed with plenty of laybys

blimey dont mention laybys.,negative waves man!!,!!i dont intend on going far with it untill im sure its reliable,.,.although it does run sweet,,no smoke,,no rattles even after its been laid up for well over two years.,,.im not going to do a complete resto as some have done on here,.,.but it will get bead blasted over most of it & the underside.,,.just realy to remove the many layers of paint.,.,bar grips are a dead cert.,but 750 or 900/20.,i love them on the bigger rubber as in the attached pic but the price! ouch!..can i ask what material should the seat cover be made from.,.,.after a recent build of my MB plus a real strong 55 chevy that i play with i realy dont want to go potty with this ol girl,..,anyway once in my barn i can then make a plan of action,..,

Good thing about it as well its came with the ben hurr which im not sure im going to keep & some steel loading ramps to get the jeep up into the back,,...Anyone know the law on having one in the back of a deuce?? although ive a class one & tanker driver for many years im fine with ,.lets say handling somthing of this size,,but law wise im unsure,.,.any veiws?

  9. Check the cab interior closely.... I see an extra wiper arm.. that means they may have cut up the headliner. They are a pain to find in metal. I have found places that sell the headliners in fiberglass... so that means lots of finish work.

Don't give to much value to a motor 'that runs'. Its probably worn out and ready for an overhaul.

Sheet metal isn't expensive. Tires, canvas, brake work, wiring harnesses, and small cab items are the expensive bits.

the inside of the cab along side the screen is fairly bad,,,im thinking its worth 3---3.5k

  10. A few questions/points to check:

    1. What are the brake hoses and brake pipes like ?

    2. What about the exhaust ?

    3. Does the exhaust blow from the manifold at all ?

    4. What's the floor of the cab like ?

    5. Is there any play in the steering ?

    6. What's the oil pressure when cold and then hot ?

    7. How old is the battery ? What condition is it in ?

    Regards

    Vulture

,.the steering seems ok,.floor is ok,.from what i can see,.good oil pressure when hot.exhaust blows, battery dead,.had to jump it to get it running.,
