  1. Im not aware of any repros either..thats not to say someone out there hasn't copied one?The fact its got a plastic zip sounds odd..as does the label. It should be a white label with 'size' and the makers details ect...Does it have the charateristics of a normal one? round elbow patches..stitched collar ect..?

  2. That would be great!:-D I have the 1944 pattern poncho (hoodless, antigas ointment pocket inside..) and the ww2 khaki cape and its postwar green version. The material is quite different to this one.If its any help or just for interests sake the snaps on the sides have FCCO on them...makers mark.

  3. Just acquired this oddity...The poncho is a dark green colour and appears to be a coated twill material quite like the early 60s American types. The makers mark inside the collar look to be -----1952 or 1962 pattern then the date of 1966 then a broad arrow. Is this an early type predating the 58 poncho?Any help would be great. It is also fairly heavy for a poncho!:Dponcho1.jpg

  4. Late 60's would have been 1960 pattern combat smocks and trousers with an odd dpm 60 patt here and there,Riot helmet or beret depending what they were doing....70's would have been 1968 pattern dpm smocks with 'trousers overall'(think lightweights) and 68 patt dpm trousers, woolly pully, boots DMS.Then pretty much the same thing into the 80's until the 84 pattern was issued.Do a google image search of British troops in Northern Ireland.

The padding was for knuckle protection on the gloves.:)

  5. Sounds just like 'jacket, overall, green.'

Just had look at mine and it appears to be dated 1947 but it mentions in eaglehursts link that they were introduced in the 60's?Mine is made from a fairly heavyweight denim.Much heavier than denim Battledress.

  6. Well, i have two 44patt waterbottles in my collection. One is NOS and the other is a rather battered example. The NOS one has a metal loop around the neck of the bottle with a chain that is directly riveted onto the cap.(?)The battered one has a piece of paracord holding the cap and is held on by a small ali loop on the cap.

The NOS bottle weighs in at 6 1/2 oz.

What a rock and roll evening im having!:D

  7. Found this at the bottom of a large box of webbing in a surplus shop.It is 5in tall by 3 1/2in wide.It has 58 patt style belt keepers on the back.It does have some markings but they are very faded.Any ideas what it might be for and a time frame?I can make out CW and a broad arrow. There are some numbers stamped on the side too...
