Hi Chris
The convoy route(s) will not be finalised until closer to the date and will (even then) probably need to be amended at short notice to suit the timing schedules we will be working to.
That said, the convoy(s) will not be anything like as ambitious as the Operation Bolero 2007 event, primarily as a result of the hike in fuel prices over the past 5 years and also the wider ambitions of this week long festival.
The big convoy day will be Saturday 14th when the assembled vehicles will drive from base camp (wherever that will be in mid-suffolk) to the 388th BG Memorial Dedication ceremony at Knettishall Heath and return to Hardwick, Norfolk for the Hangar Dance in the evening. We never take a direct route on busy main roads any more than possible, as Ed Abbott always maps us out a picturesque journey off the beaten track as we don't like to hold up all the traffic!
I will happily provide you with the exact convoy routes nearer the time, but sadly their are no plans currently to take the MV convoys as far south as Martlesham, Ipswich.
That would be great thanks Clive. :-) So far i have the weekend off so am looking at arriving at the hotel Saturday morning for departure then off to snap along the route !? hopefully i shall be with you all the way to Hardwick where im looking at camping and doing the Hanger Dance to !

Hi Clive thank you very much for the comprehensive update. Unfortunately it was me who forwarded this stream to Leslie so hopefully your ok with it (guess you are)
I do not that in one of the paragraphs you mention road closures etc etc. I don't have a WW2 vehicle just an ordinary car, do you think i would be restricted in getting to places or are there some form of pass or something i can obtain to allow me to be in places to get the best photos/video i would like to get. (im not press related).
I have the whole weekend off so am planning on following and attending the Hanger Dance. Im not fantastic at take photos but have added a couple so that you may see my stuff
Regards Chris.

Hi there and greetings from Sunny Suffolk ! This is my first post as im completely new.
Firstly ile introduce myself as an enthusiast of the 8th USAAF here in East Anglia. There are many reasons but i guess the main is that as an evacuee my father tells a tale of having a ride in a B17, how true this i will never know but he constantly lives at the bar on this tale at others expense ! I live at Martlesham Heath which hosted the 356th Fighter Group during WW2 and is around 8 miles from Debech.
I looked at the itinary and sore that you are planing a visit to this airfeild and wondered if you could be persuaded to come as far as Martlesham with a convoy there is a control tower museum here?
Please keep me up to date with any routes and convoy details as i will be following this both on the road over the week and here. As a new member i don't know if it was correct but i have posted a link to this event to my local radio station (BBC Radio Suffolk) as i know they are planing a special programme to commemorate this anniversary.
If it doesn't all make sense its because im a bit dyslexic
Regards Chris
