I can see why Carlisle Museum staff (or was it TV reporting staff) would like to attach history to The Border Regiment - however , pure dreaming with what remains and no documented evidence.
I share that and it's to be hoped that museum staff will have a 'reality check' and realise that there was no way that one particular glider would be taken back to N Africa, crated up and shipped home.

Bringing this back on thread
The theory that the glider was crated up and returned to the UK is a new one to me. Complete gliders were, however, 'snatched' from where they had landed.
Also, if you put a jeep in a CG4A there's nowhere for eight passengers to sit - except in the jeep!
