  1. Hi

Well I will try this. That can work with the model.

But building the model is only one part of the job. The great challenge is making the drawings. I am working, or better said, I am trying to work with real measures. With my calculates the floor of the van would be about 120 mm over the structure.

If the chasis structure is lower down , as one of the reference drawing I am using shows, I have the conflict with the fuel tank.

I've been watching again the pictures and I think the solution could be moving the fuel tank downwards.

I would say this fuel tank is lower down compared with an usual cargo truck.

So now, a new question. Was it posible move the fuel tank up and down easily?

  2. Hi Cosrec

Yeah, I want to build (in scale) some vehicles used by the American Red Cross Clubmobile Service. The clubmobile based in the Bedford OY, the cinemobile based in the WC62 and the first, the clubmobile based in the GMC CCKW 353.

There is a couple of kits for the GMC clubmobile, but I have the opinion they are not correct in details, ...and in dimensions.

As far as I know nobody has still found the original drawings so I decided to make my own ones. And here is where the tyres bulge out the bottom has a role, I think.

According the drawing I posted the wheels and structure has the same height, but in another drawing the difference is about 35 mm. Well, not to much. But that small difference would be enough for having to move the fuel tank in the right hand side.

If not there would be a conflict between the fuel tank and the body of the clubmobile.

There would be another posibilities: The fuel tank was different, but studying the pictures it looks the same. Other one, my calculates for the supports of the body are not correct. It's posible but before deciding I would like to confirm that relation between the wheels and the structure.

  3. Well, I don't know if there will be light at the end, but I will try it.

I think I found another picture, but it's rather frustrating. Not a clear image.

General Matthew Ridgway in the presentation of Clubmobiles. I'm sure there are more pictures of the event. May be one with a good view? The problem will be find them :D.

    Cheers

  4. Hi.

Last month, I saw a thread about clubmobiles ... there is a picture posted by GoranWC51. Two traliers are clearly visible.Desconocido 00.jpg

Seeing more pictures of CCKW Clubmobiles I think I see the same trailer:

    Desconocido 01.jpg

    Desconocido 02.jpg

    Desconocido 03.jpg

According the info I have I think it's a generator. As far as I know the clubmobiles tried to use "local" power, but if not possible, they had generators, for the doughnuts machines and the music .

I tried to indentify the model, but without success. Theorically, the generators used by the A.R.C. were British. (Actually, the GMC clubmobiles were manufactured in Great Britain in 1944)

Can anyone give me a clue about the model?. May be a civil item?

The A.R,C, had other trailers as the model showed below.

    Clubmobile_Trailer_Fuel_HX-X-T_6179842.jpg

The fenders and the wheels look similar. The same manufacturer? English is not my mother tongue so I can be really wrong, but I would say "petroleum spirit" is not an U.S. term. Again I see a British origin.

Well, any help would be apprecited.

    Cheers

  5. Thanks N.O.S. I still thinking why I chose the name of my dog for registering :red:

Before I forget the pictures showing GMC CCKW 353 Clubmobiles with closed cab and ring mount. Here they are.

The first one from Critical Past and the second from Ebay (I think)

The first one, the vehicle in Olive Drab (I think), and the second in the mysterious "pale" color.

    Cheers

  6. Hi Goran

    I'm Fano Suarez

    Here it is the adress.

Sadly it's only a picture (go to 2:40), not more images, but there are some good pictures of clubmobiles. My level of English is not the best:embarrassed: so I don't understand well the dialogues. I don't know if the cinemobile it's mentioned.

Yesterday I review the pictures I have and I found another one that I think it's a Cinemobile. At night, with more time I'll post it.

About your last picture, yes, it's funny but it's not the only one. There are more vehicles with the ring mount. The selection of the trucks was curious. I supose they closed the ringmount.

In your picture is also visible the "trafficator" near the door.

    Well, later I will continue

    Cheers

  7. Hi

Fantastic picture of the cinemobile. It's the best picture I've seen of one of them . And the best, thanks to it I found the answer for a strange "clubmobile" I had seen in a documentary.

    doc 017.jpg

The answer was easy, it wasn't a clubmobile. I've discovered with your picture.

As soon as found the adress for the documentary I'll post it. I'm a little bit caotic

    Cheers

    P.S. I'm surprised. it's the same vehicle.

  8. Hi everybody

    My name is Fano Suarez.

It's great to be here.I'm interested in WW2 vehicles and I think here is really a good place.

Unfortunately, I don't own a classic MV. But perhaps someday ..., who knows, ... dreaming is free.

Meanwhile, close to my town, two brothers own 3 fantastic vehicles: a BMW R75, a Kubelwagen, and my favorite, a Kettenkrad. Sometimes I visit them and I can enjoy the vehicles.

Well, I suppose I will be a regular member in the "I maybe stupid, but......" topic, so thanks for let be here.

    Regards

PS. Yeah, I know, my English is not perfect, but I'll try to improve it.
