Just come across this thread and can answer your queries. RRC7310 is a 3 terminal screen and was indeed used on pre Wolf 12v military models and the Genuine Parts ones are made by Pilkington. Pattern part ones on the same part number can be really poorly made. On 12v vehicles the centre terminal is normally the power feed and the outer ones are earth terminals. On Wolf it is wired differently and the centre terminal is not used. You just use the outer terminals as power and earth and insulate the centre terminal. I found out the hard way that if you use all three terminals on a Wolf then you literally melt 40amp fuses, the screen goes as fuzzy a hell to look through and everything gets really hot.

  2. In the list I have, last year the MOD still had at least 45 of these under contract LV2A/265 but searching the linked NSN 2320998939689 shows 96 vehicles. The discrepancy is down to the MOD not recording the contract number for all vehicles in the list.

The most common general description is given as: TRUCK UTY MED 4X4 CL LAND ROVER 110 H/T 2.5 LTR TDI and all appear to be CL specification so Helicopter Support is very unlikely.

A couple also appear as soft tops in the general description.

Dates into service of these range from February 1996 to May 2002 so quite a long running contract but the bulk of them date from 1996/7. Military registrations appear to be from several 'blocks' with quite a few in the 36AY?? and 37AY?? RAF range.

  3. Now all I have to do is persuade my Sno-Cat and T-36 that they want to exceed 20 mph ( other than on the back of a transporter ) ;)

This part might dampen your spirits:cry:

1.7: The proposed increase would apply to military AVT only. Non MoD track laying vehicles will continue to be restricted to the existing 20mph maximum speed limit

  4. If you take a look at the below link you'll find details under Modification Instruction No 42. The wheel carrier is made by Mantec but is to a specific design for the MOD. Looking at the pictures of the Wolf at Witham's, the conversion has only been partially completed because the modification also requires repositioning of the rear lights and fitting of a rear step.

The same link will be of interest to anyone with a Wolf because it is the full set of up to date Modification Instructions for the TUL(HS), TUM(HS) and Pulse fleet. They have been declassified and released following an FOI request I submitted last month. :-)

  5. Thanks for that Chris, is that really a fair market price?

    Hi Robin

The others beat me to the reply! As for price, retail from Land Rover is £246 +vat so the one from Thexmod is a reasonable price, but there are at least 3 on eBay including the one David has linked. The other two are new and listed at £74 each.

  6. Hi Charlie

I got it from Blanchard's via eBay. It's just the isolator kit and doesn't include the Auxiliary Earth Terminal Kit referred to in the Mod Inst. The latter is just a 60cm long 25mm² earth lead with a 10mm terminal one end and an 8mm terminal the other so easy to make. A few pictures attached.

  7. This week I fitted an isolator switch to my 110 Wolf using the Land Rover / MOD modification kit.

This kit switches the negative side of the system and also creates an auxiliary earth post within the battery box. This earth post then takes any extra negative cables that were fitted to the negative terminal of the battery i.e. the earth from the interstart socket.

  8. Although I heard that said at the time, I've not seen official confirmation.

No doubt there is an Equipment Management Policy Statement somewhere, but I don't have access to such. But I do receive KiT! & the latest edition states:

"It is proposed to take the WOLF platform out to 2030 - to enable this we are doing obsolescence studies."

So there we have it, official confirmation in print.

And to go a bit further Clive, when I visited Witham's last week they stated they were expecting what they initially described as 'a quantity of wolf derivatives' to be arriving there soon. That tied in with reports from a DSG source that a number of Pulse are to be retired over the next couple of years and when I mentioned this they confirmed it was Pulse they were expecting.

  9. Charlie, you should have a twin core cable that comes up behind the nearside front seatbelt which feeds from Fuse 7 on the dash. It is fused at 7.5A and I think was intended as a radio feed and is more than sufficient to supply two or three penthouse lights. That saves running extra wires.

  10. Yes. If it an 'Estae' fine. Utility BANNED! Trouble is with a lot of older Landy's you have the 'Dual Purpose' ruloing from back in the '50's. So some are registerd utilty , some as domestic estate, it was down to variuos tax advantages at the time.

If it were that simple. Both of mine are registered as 'Utility' and the 90 is 'non compliant' whereas the 110 comes back as:

"According to our records this vehicle is not subject to the Low Emission Zone and is not required to meet the Low Emission Zone standards this time".

By that I can only assume that it's OK to be used in the LEZ.

  11. Welcome to the HMVF, Bedford MK ? I took my class three in one of those in Germany a great truck like you it's on my wish list :)

Hi. I loved the MK but hated the annual MoT Test. It came from reserve stock and only had 1034 miles on it when my wife bought it in 1996. We sold it about 5 years ago with 11000 ish miles and with hindsight that was a big mistake. A friend still owns it and if he ever decides to sell it guess what?
