1. Hi all

just bought a narrow track sankey type trailer to tow behind my GS S3 lightweight landy.

Its been stored for years in a barn, but is in surprisingly good condition. Amazingly, when hitched up to the landy & plugged in to the trailer socket all the lights worked. What a bonus!!

Towed it 50 miles home no problems. However, the indicators flash a bit madly when in operation. Is this normal? Or should there be some additional flasher relay fitted? I sort of thought this would be all sorted as the trailer socket was fitted to the landy as standard.

Also any other issues I should look out for with these trailers ?

That excellent you have acquired the narrow track Sankey. Sounds like the flasher relay problem, you can get an upgraded flasher relay unit from any car or caravan accessories shop or first check to see if one of the bulbs are out on either LWt or trailer. Secondly if someone presses brake pedal when hazards are flashing with trailer connected and a light goes dimmer then suspect a bad earth problem, if the latter happens clean earth connection to restore to normal. Hope this may help. Good luck with your new trailer sounds good.

  2. Have now got the m20 back home, had a small job to do on the kickstarter as it wasn't engaging every time, also fitted a new throttle.

Went out for a ride on it today, but found it had a bit of a wheel wobble at certain speeds, hopefully it is just a tyre as the ones that are on it are a bit knackered, either that or the road as it only did it on the same stretch of road and nowhere else!

Congratulations on you new purchase Nice machine Many miles happy motoring with her.

  3. Our sons M20. When you say that you have wheel wobble, have you checked the tyre pressures, if under inflated it will roll all over the place. The M20 is a lovely bike to ride, the gear change is rather slow, does`nt like to be rushed. I always pushed through the gears slowly and held it in gear until I had released the clutch, that way I never missed any gears........ it will give you hours of fun.

Lovely bike you have there Ray

Hi Ted sorry to hear your having health problems too now. Also sorry to hear you maybe having to part with Matilda. I still have the Yellow Goddess but have also added a Landrover ambulance, MP Landrover and Sankey to my collection. Trying to secure a NI Landrover Piglet to restore, should know in the next couple days if I have it or not. May catch up at the Bunker or Leuchars later this year at the airshow if your about. Hope things improve for you. Regards

  7. Hi Duncan probably a stupid question but have you asked on the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RSOLES/ site about the owner? Nice looking machine would be good for you to be in touch for diagragms, sizes and photos. Hope you manage it. Good luck. Ernest

    Hi Howard,

Yes - it certainly seems to be in good condition! I did have a really good crawl all over it when it was up at RAF Scampton last November but if anything, I think it's better than I thought!

The tilt should be in three parts - roof and sides, front and back - as is normal for an RL; I think Tony has some contacts there for that. The tilt frame - unless we can find an original, he has access to a genuine frame to act as a pattern to have the frame made up from scratch.

In the medium - long term, yes it would be nice to have at least one section of can racking made up. It would be fairytale to find one lurking in someone's garden or shed but I think that's unlikely and they would have gone for scrap long ago. Given the time and cost, it's a much lower priority. Having the extinguisher holders made up is a higher priority! We only have photos so far but GYL 29C (a sister vehicle) is on SORN according to the DVLA and was on the road until recently. We have tried to track the owner, so far without luck......

    Cheers, Duncan.

  8. Thanks for the kind comments! Yes, she is in pretty good condition mainly as the previous owners after Withams kept her undercover! She was filthy when I sdaw her advertised on eBay and when i went to look, but underneath the grime lurked a diamond despite the sky-high mileage!! (There are seemingly few GGs with mileages anything like 5,000!) I think quite a few people bought GGs on a whim as the prices dropped away and then just stored them outside, where of course they rot pretty quickly, especially as the rear roofs which are only covered in lino are notorious for cracking and letting in water and the cab roofs leak as the vinyl deteriorates. She'll look even nicer when the re-chromed Bedford badge is back on :-D.

    Cheers, Duncan.

Hi Duncan hope you have many years and lots of mileage with your Green Goddess, it looks really good and sorting out the niggles all makes it more worthwhile. Its good too you got the original PGW plate as a lot of these were sold off for good prices and the Goddesses were unfortunately scrapped, what a waste. However yours has been saved and nice to see its getting refurbished. The Rsoles are also very helpful if you have any problems. Great to see your pics on this forum. Enjoy the shows I am sure you will manage quite a ew this year.

  9. Fetched her today, a few niggly bits, painter put stripes on the door pillars, and the towing hook is now painted green!!

He done a nice job though

Hi just read the thread re the RAF Police Your 90 looks really good and the Blue light on top will set it off. Are you going to add the Pye Radio too (or Motorola)?. Is it just the one side window you need to put in? Stripe sets it off nicely the knack off putting the stripe on is soapy water in a bucket. When I first heard this I thought no way as its adhesive and water will affect it sticking, however tried it out on the Goddess and it worked excellent and lets you move it up or down then dab dry with cloth or paper towel roll. Anyway enjoy any shows you take her too and add an other photo when light and windows in please. Nice seeing it.
